Responsible for providing comprehensive care at an advanced practice level to children and their families through assessment, treatment clinical management, ordering/or interpreting laboratory and diagnostic tests, teaching, and participating/conducting research. Works collaboratively with physician partners, administration, nursing, and health care teams to develop and implement clinical program needs.
Job Specific Duties
Acts as a resource for patients, families, staff, or community groups providing education and emotional support.
Develops, implements, evaluates, monitors, manages, and modifies a plan of care that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes.
Performs comprehensive and problem focused history and physician examinations.
Considers factors related to safety, effectiveness, and cost in planning and delivering patient care across departments and promoting optimal patient outcomes.
Orders and interprets appropriate laboratory tests, radiological studies, and consultations.
Participates in quality improvement programs.
Performs procedures as demonstrated through competency.
Accountable for maintaining current expertise and skills in order to facilitate a high quality of clinical performance and to promote professional growth.
Orders and/or prescribes medications for inpatients/outpatients.
Participates in other necessary activities associated with patient care (writing daily progress notes, coordinating clinical care, discharge planning, etc.).
Writes orders, monitors/alters drug therapies, and performs other procedures with education and experience within established protocol in collaborative relationship with a Physician(s).
Recognizes need for physician consultation and guidance as indicated within experience and scope of practice.
Acts as a preceptor for APP students.

Minimum Job Requirements
Master's degree in nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)
APRN Licensure issued by the State of Florida - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment.
Certification by the American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Academy of Nurse Practitioner Certification Board (AANPCB), or Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment.
American Heart Association BLS - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
American Heart Association PALS required for inpatient APPs
Level II Background Check If required for this position or department
Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Certification required for PICU, CICU and Neurocritical Care Units.
