Position Overview:
The Cloud Operations Engineer is responsible for managing and optimizing the organization's cloud infrastructure, primarily within Microsoft Azure, to ensure the high availability, reliability, and performance of applications and services. Alongside cloud operations, this role includes the maintenance and management of on-premise networks as the organization transitions from an on-premise to a cloud-based infrastructure.
This role involves the daily operation, coordination, execution, and support of IT infrastructure components, including servers, network systems, and voice/data communications. The engineer will work closely with the IT Infrastructure Manager to identify, recommend, and resolve technical issues, supporting the overall IT operations.
Responsibilities:
Deploy, configure, and manage Azure and some AWS cloud infrastructure components, including Virtual Machines, App Services, SQL Database, Storage, and Networking.
Automate cloud deployments using PowerShell, Azure CLI, and terraform to streamline processes.
Implement and maintain security best practices.
Monitor, diagnose, and resolve issues in the cloud environment, ensuring minimal downtime and rapid recovery, and implement proactive measures to prevent recurrence.
Design and test backup and disaster recovery strategies for services to ensure business continuity.
Create and maintain documentation for cloud infrastructure, cloud best practices, procedures and provide training to Motiva teams as needed.
Implement and manage monitoring tools (e.g. Azure Monitor and CloudWatch) to track performance, identify issues, and optimize cloud resources to maintain cost-effective operations.
Provide support and technical guidance during cloud migrations.
Maintain on-premise networks (LAN/WAN) during the strategic transition to cloud solutions.

Experience and Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related. Relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
4+ years of experience in IT infrastructure and cloud operations, with a focus on Azure.
Strong understanding of cloud computing (SaaS, IaaS), LAN/WAN technologies, and server management.
Experience with networking in cloud environments, including subnets, vnets, VPNs, load balancing, NSGs, and firewalls.
Demonstrated experience in automating cloud deployments using tools like PowerShell, Azure CLI, terraform, and CI/CD piplines.
Strong customer service orientation, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage shifting priorities in a corporate office environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Self-driven and capable of working independently, with a strong ability to manage tasks effectively.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Familiarity with ServiceNow ITSM.
Familiarity with on-premise data center services and cloud networking.
Familiarity with IaC deployments, utilizing CI/CD tools like Azure DevOps.
Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Azure certifications, or other cloud-focused credentials.
Expertise in disaster recovery and backup strategies for cloud infrastructure.
