Basic Job Functions:
The Environmental Technician responsibilities will be, but not limited to overseeing the operations, function, and management of air pollution control equipment (baghouses), process water systems, hazardous waste/solid waste management, perform environmental inspections and sampling activities according to the plant's title V, NPDES permit(s), and assist in operating the facility waste management plan. This role ensures environmental compliance on a 24/7 basis that coincides with plant operations. Candidates are expected to promote Nucor's safety culture and initiative, operate under an open communication culture, create an inspiring and innovative environment, and assist in overseeing the facility's ISO 14001 program.Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Requirements:
6 months' experience in the posted field
Prior Environmental. Mechanical or Electrical Maintenance experience
Engineering degree and/or 2+ years' experience in a related field

Maintenance Systems and Techniques: Basic mechanical and electrical knowledge for servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines, tools, devices, moving parts, and machines/equipment.

Environmental: Promotes environmental stewardship while maintaining compliance in all areas of the site through conformance with Nucor's environmental program. This includes reviewing and implementing environmental technical standards and policies.
Accountability/Dependability: Displays responsibility with work habits and has the ability to hold others accountable for desired results. Being reliable, responsible, and committed to fulfilling obligations.
