A&M is searching for candidates with 10+ years of tax performance improvement experience to join our Tax Performance Improvement ("TPI") practice. TPI works alongside CFOs, VPs of Tax, and the broader tax department to identify Tax Function growth opportunities, formalize implementation plans, and ultimately implement our suggestions. Our solutions help our clients capitalize on people, process, data, and technology opportunities. TPI is part of A&M's Corporate Transformation Tax group, which technically and strategically supports corporate transformations and operational changes to optimize the impacts of client initiatives.

How you'll contribute

  • Tax Performance Improvement Initiatives (Direct Tax Focus)

    • Assess client tax departments from people, process, data, and technology perspectives

    • Evaluate current provision processes, determine inefficiencies, and identify areas for automation using existing tax systems and emerging technologies

    • Assist in vendor selection for facilitative tax software

    • Develop improved reporting capabilities to enhance clients' and internal stakeholders' ability to evaluate risk and capitalize on opportunities

    • Establish and execute training programs for any implemented initiatives

    • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team and clearly communicate work plan, project objectives, and timelines

    • Coordinate with internal and client stakeholders, respond to inquiries, and adapt to changing project requirements

    • Build client relationships and demonstrate a working knowledge of client businesses


  • Team Mentorship

    • Supervise, develop, mentor, and motivate our Associates, Senior Associates and Managers by actively participating in their advancement through on-the-job training, providing performance feedback, counseling, and fostering our team-based atmosphere

    • Manage workload and deadlines for Associates, Senior Associates, and Managers with a focus on quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the project team

    • Demonstrate commitment and desired behaviors while working with others that have diverse experiences, skills and perspectives

    • Conduct day-to-day management of accounts to ensure delivery of timely and accurate work product


  • Business Development

    • Identify opportunities for add on work for existing clients and/or on existing projects

    • Develop pitches for potential new clients

    • Publish thought leadership articles to support TPI's marketing efforts

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Information Systems and/or a Master's degree in related field

  • Active CPA license or be admitted to a bar

  • 10+ years of consulting and/or industry experience leading tax performance improvement strategies to assist tax function optimization

  • Certified implementor for at least one provision tax software tool (preferably ONESOURCE)

  • Experience selecting and implementing third-party direct tax systems (such as ONESOURCE, Longview, Bloomberg, CorpTax)

  • Experience managing large, multidisciplinary projects that impact tax (e.g., provision, ERP implementations)

  • Ability to simultaneously work on and manage several projects while effectively managing deadlines

  • Demonstrated success as a trusted tax and business advisor: building relationships, identifying and addressing client needs, and delivering high quality deliverables

  • Passion for training and mentoring staff (local, global, and global capabilities center)

  • Excellent verbal and written skills, with the ability to establish credibility and influence clients

  • High motivation to learn and grow while actively identifying trends and new ideas for enhancing solutions and approaches

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills

  • Experience with all Microsoft Office products (with an emphasis on Excel)

Regular employees working 30 or more hours per week are also entitled to participate in Alvarez & Marsal Holdings' fringe benefits consisting of healthcare plans, flexible spending and savings accounts, life, AD&D, and disability coverages at rates determined from time to time as well as a 401(k) retirement plan. Provided the eligibility requirements are met, employees will also receive a discretionary contribution to their 401(k) from Alvarez & Marsal. Additionally, employees are eligible for paid time off including vacation, personal days, seventy-two (72) hours of sick time (prorated for part time employees), ten federal holidays, one floating holiday, and parental leave. The salary range is $130,000 - $175,000 annually, dependent on several variables including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography. In addition, A&M offers a discretionary bonus program which is based on a number of factors, including individual and firm performance. Please ask your recruiter for details.
