Quality Engineer

JOB SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor's degree, preferably in engineering.
• 2 to 5 years of previous related experience.
• Knowledge of the converting industry (web handling, extrusion, coating, slitting) preferred.
• Solid computer skills, with knowledge of statistical software packages. (Minitab preferred)
• Strong knowledge of statistical techniques, including but not limited to: process capability, ANOVA, gauge R&R, design of experiments and SPC.
• Background in Lean / Six Sigma strongly preferred.
• Six Sigma Green and/or Black Belt certification preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to lead and facilitate problem-solving teams.
• Ability to communicate and work effectively with both internal and external customers.
• Knowledge of basic chemistry.
• Knowledge of quality standards such as ISO 9001 and similar.
• Must be able to manage multiple tasks/priorities and easily adapt to changing situations.
• Must have the ability to wear personal protective equipment including ear plugs, safety glasses and steel toe shoes.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Promotes safety by leading by example, participating in safety engagement and encouraging the team to work safe each day and to follow all safety guidelines and procedures.
• Cultivate a culture focused on continuous improvement in quality performance.
• Lead by personal example with a positive attitude, setting the standards for the team
• Statistical analysis of large and complex data sets.
• Develop programming projects with the assistance of process engineering. (i.e.: RDS, formula tracking, SOC & SOG database)
• Customer complaint investigation and resolution.
• Technical report writing.
• Lead lean six sigma projects.
• Serves as quality mentor.
• Spearhead implementation and provide ongoing support of control charting on the production floor.
• Able to effectively operate all quality lab equipment.
• Calibrate many of the instruments in the quality lab.
• Provide process engineering support on assigned machines.
• Assist with internal and external quality audits of the facility.
• Work with R&D on new product developments.
• Reliable and consistent attendance.
