Job Description:

Lynden Air Cargo is seeking a Propulsion Mechanic Lead to join our Aircraft Maintenance Department. This position will perform routine and non-routine maintenance on Company aircraft, powerplants, and propellers when necessary. They will plan, schedule, and oversee day-to-day maintenance activities and workflow for all spare off-wing powerplant and propeller assemblies.

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position are:


  • Performs all work assigned in accordance with established policies and procedures as governed by Lynden Air Cargo’s Employee Handbook, LAC GMM and applicable CFR’s

  • Records all work performed on the appropriate forms and in accordance with LAC GMM and applicable CFR’s

  • Assumes responsibility for the work performed as indicated by signature recorded on appropriate forms

  • Corrects and reports any abnormal conditions or discrepancies to appropriate supervisory personnel

  • Performs airworthiness release of aircraft

  • Plans, schedules, and/or performs aircraft, powerplant, and propeller assemblies and functions on assigned shift

  • Coordinates with the Heavy Maintenance Manager for powerplant/propeller overhaul vendor selection

  • Assists with the management of worldwide spare powerplant and propeller assemblies

  • Investigates potential in-house repair capabilities

  • Manages all powerplant/propeller special tools and equipment

  • Makes recommendations for all powerplant/propeller special tools and equipment capital purchases

  • Assists and trains other mechanics as assigned

  • Travels independently and globally on occasion and as needed, to support LAC’s fleet

  • Supervises and motivates subordinates to ensure adherence to Lynden Air Cargo policies and procedures

  • Refers, for cause, any subordinate requiring disciplinary action to the Heavy Maintenance Manager/Maintenance Personnel Coordinator

  • Responds to any accident or incident according to the Lynden Air Cargo Emergency Procedures Handbook

  • Completes required reports

  • Collects and reviews paperwork generated by assigned shift and forwards to the maintenance production office during assigned shift

  • Ensures that parts are properly checked out of the stockroom

  • Initiates procurement of parts and equipment that are in short supply or have been depleted

  • Ensures that precision tools and test equipment are being utilized for required tasks being performed by subordinates

  • Works in conjunction with the Maintenance Department Quality Control Division to ensure that aircraft, powerplants, and propellers, are maintained in airworthy condition at all times

Qualifications:


  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school;

  • Or ten years of documented Rolls-Royce T56/501A Series III experience; including at least one year of lead, acting lead or supervisory experience

  • Must have the ability to read and interpret technical documents, including but not limited to, maintenance manuals, wiring schematics, and structural repair manuals

  • Must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence

  • Must demonstrate ability to fulfill basic supervisory functions

  • Must furnish all hand tools of the variety and quantity required to properly perform assigned tasks

  • Must be available to work days, evenings, weekends, nights or holidays and to be away from home for extended periods of time

  • Must be available to travel to domestic and international locations without restrictions, including entrance onto foreign military bases

Licensing/Certification:


  • FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant ratings

  • FCC General Radio Telephone Operator License; desirable, but not required

  • Current US Driver License required

  • Current US Passport required

  • Must be qualified for Required Inspection Authorization

  • Engine Run-Up/Taxi Authorization or equivalent is required
