Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARYThe Quality Receiving Inspector at Rhoads Industries is responsible for ensuring that all incoming materials, components, and products meet the company’s quality standards and specifications before they are used in production. This role involves conducting thorough inspections, measurements, and tests on received goods, ensuring compliance with both internal and external quality requirements. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Incoming Material Inspections:
    • Inspect all incoming materials, components, and finished goods for conformance to specifications, drawings, and purchase order requirements.
    • Verify product quality by conducting visual, dimensional, and functional inspections using measurement tools, gauges, and inspection equipment.
    • Identify and document any non-conformances or discrepancies found during inspections.
  2. Documentation and Record Keeping:
    • Maintain accurate records of inspections, including inspection reports, non-conformance reports, and vendor correspondence.
    • Ensure all relevant documentation, such as certificates of compliance (COC) and test reports, accompany incoming materials.
    • Update and manage inspection logs and databases for traceability and future reference.
  3. Non-Conformance Management:
    • Report and escalate any material or product quality issues to the appropriate departments (Quality Control, Purchasing, or Production).
    • Work with suppliers to resolve quality issues and initiate corrective actions, such as returns, replacements, or corrective measures.
    • Coordinate with the Quality Assurance team to support root cause analysis and help develop corrective and preventive action (CAPA) plans.
  4. Supplier Communication and Coordination:
    • Communicate with suppliers to ensure that all materials meet Rhoads Industries’ quality standards and specifications before shipment.
    • Assist the Purchasing department with vendor quality performance evaluations and supplier audits as needed.
    • Collaborate with suppliers to improve quality control processes and ensure continuous supply of defect-free materials.
  5. Compliance and Standards Adherence:
    • Ensure that all received goods comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal quality protocols.
    • Stay informed on industry best practices, new inspection technologies, and quality assurance methods.
    • Assist in audits and inspections by internal or external parties as part of ongoing regulatory compliance.
  6. Inventory and Storage Management:
    • Ensure that inspected materials are properly labeled, stored, and handled to prevent damage or contamination.
    • Verify that materials are properly segregated (approved vs. rejected) and maintain organized storage areas.
  7. Continuous Improvement:
    • Participate in ongoing quality improvement initiatives, including suggesting improvements to inspection processes and tools.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of new inspection procedures or systems.
    • Contribute to the development of training materials and participate in training sessions for new employees on inspection procedures and quality standards.
  8. Support Production:
    • Collaborate with production teams to ensure that materials and components meet the required quality standards for assembly and manufacturing.
    • Provide quality support during production runs to address issues with material quality and prevent production delays.
  9. Safety and Environmental Compliance:
    • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and environmental regulations during inspection and storage of materials.
    • Report any safety hazards or violations observed during inspections.
  10. Other Duties as Assigned:
  • Perform other duties as required to support the overall quality and operational goals of Rhoads Industries.
 EDUCATION:  
  • Required: 2+ years in a quality inspector role
  • Preferred: Relevant certifications (e.g. CQI, Six Sigma) are a plus.
 EXPERIENCE:Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in quality control, inspection, or manufacturing environment, preferably in a role involving the inspection of incoming materials or components. QUALIFICATIONS:
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Strong understanding of quality control principles, methodologies, and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in using quality measurement and testing equipment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and regulatory requirements. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to communicate requirements in an industrial environment and to give effective direction by using written and/or verbal skills where appropriate.
  • Excellent customer service and client communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain appropriate Government security clearance required.
  • Onsite requirement.
 PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • The performance of this position involves exposure to construction or industrial areas where the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hard hats and hearing protection is required.
  • May require walking and standing on irregular, uneven surfaces in an industrial setting and possibly at increased heights climbing and descending ladders and ship stairways.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions, including sitting, standing, walking, and driving in an automobile
