Provide support in functional areas of Safety to employees and management, ensuring goals of the organization, as well as compliance with Federal, State and Local laws. Emphasis will be on compliance management, employee engagement, injury prevention activates, and training.
Position Objectives:
Identify health and safety issues based on line audits, floor walks and accident investigations then develop corrective action plans to address deficiencies.
Development of corrective actions plans for Process Improvement, GMP's and Safety issues.
Perform Job Safety Analyses (JSA) and Job Hazard Assessments (JHA)
Conduct safety training and monitoring as needed - Hazardous Energy Control, Bloodborne Pathogen, Powered Industrial Equipment, safety meetings, hearing test, noise monitoring etc.
Participate in medical management functions for workplace or suspected workplace injuries.
Support administrative functions as needed- reports, inspection documentation and document retrieval.
Essential Functions:
Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (G.M.P.'s) at all times.
Verbally communicate instructions, problems, etc. to co-workers, supervisors and employees from all departments.
Work in close proximity to co-workers.
Meet Company attendance standards of start and end time for work as scheduled.
Comply with all safety, health and environmental regulations as prescribed by law.
Comply with Company rules, regulations and policies.
Must be able to calibrate, operate, retrieve and interrupter data or summarize in report form from monitoring instruments.
Any foreign materials found in product or ingredient needs to be reported to a supervisor immediately.
Work with management to complete JSA's & JHA's.
Work with all employees to identify and correct health and safety concerns.
Work with all employees to ensure that all G.M.P.'s and safety rules are being followed and enforced.
Position may involve limited travel outside Ohio.
May perform other functions as assigned.
Physical/Mental Requirements:
Ability to work in light to moderate noise levels; hearing protection will be required.
Walk up to 400 yards to work and break areas.
Communicate in English to give and acknowledge instructions/problems.
Physical and mental ability to work in excess of 40 hours per week.
May stand up to eight hours per shift.
May crawl under equipment to reach work area.
May climb stairs and ladders to platform 7-20 feet high.
May climb steps to and from work and break areas.
Ability to work in fast paced environment in close proximity to others.
Ability to distinguish colors.
Ability to work in variable temperatures and weather conditions.
Repetitive bending, stooping and twisting throughout shift.
Ability to work in wet, humid areas.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram and schedule form.
Ability to work well with others in stressful situations and meet deadlines as necessary.
May work near moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles and vibration.

This position will report to the HSE Supervisor
Experience and Skills:
Understanding of Health and Safety issues facing the plant.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and at times independently.
Good basic knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations or ability to research issues.
Intermediate computer skills -Microsoft Word, Excel or use various software packages.
Understanding of JSA, JHA concept and process.
Ability to speak in front of groups.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree in EH&S, Safety Certification, and/or equivalent work experience.
3 years' experience in EH&S (Safety) in a manufacturing environment or high-speed distribution environment is required.
Bi-lingual (Spanish) a plus but not required
