Staff Environmental Planner at H2M architects + engineers in Melville, New York

Job Description:

H2M Architects + Engineers , a multidiscipline architectural, engineering, planning and environmental consulting firm with offices in NJ and NY seeks a Staff Environmental Planner to join our Melville, NY office. H2M's Successful applicant will work under the direct supervision of Senior Environmental Planner to assist with environmental planning projects. Ideal candidate is expected to be self-starter who can take initiative, complete assigned tasks efficiently under time constraints, and continuously develop planning knowledge and skillsets.


Job Responsibilities:

Preparation of SEQRA documents including Environmental Assessment Forms and Environmental Impact Statements Management of technical impact analysis including analysis and assessment of information prepared by others for presentation in SEQRA documents. Technical research, technical writing and environmental analysis. Specialized knowledge of SEQR disciplines including for example natural resources, land use planning or transportation. Strategize, develop, and manage planning processes. Develop and implement project plans at various levels, including those targeted to ensuring legal compliance. Present project ideas to individuals and groups. Prepare, review and interpret maps, aerial photos, data, and field investigation reports.

Education and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Environmental Science, Geology, Urban Planning, Engineering or related discipline from an accredited program.
• 2 to 5 years of experience in environmental planning or closely related field required.
• Working knowledge of local implementation of SEQRA, NEPA, CEQR.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Problem solving with stakeholders, clients, and teammates.
• Ability to work in a collaborative environment and willingness to convey ideas among team.
• Proficiency in ArcGIS, Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint.
• Ability to create budgets, develop project plans and schedules a plus.
• Familiarity with DEC Policies for Noise, Visual, GHG assessments a plus.
• Tidal and freshwater wetlands delineation certification a plus.
• AICP Licensure a plus.
