What we need:
Mohawk is looking for a Sr. Safety Specialist to do more for Mohawk by promoting an accident-free workplace, implementing safety policies and programs, providing training and helping to ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations at warehouses and distributions across multiple regions. This position will travel 50% of the time to support assigned facilities.
What you'll do:
Provide instruction on OSHA required safety disciplines and coordinate training in assigned areas
Conduct audits to identify and correct unsafe conditions and acts. Monitor behavior and recommend actions as needed to reduce injuries and improve compliance.
Participate in investigations to determine root causes of events, write summaries and recommend corrective actions. Perform follow-up on remediation as needed.
Stay abreast of changes to OSHA, Federal & State DOT regulations to ensure the company is prepared for future compliance requirements.
Collaborate regularly with other safety personnel to promote consistency in applying safety policies and programs throughout the Company.
Review and update Job Safety Analysis documents to identify and avoid work-related hazards by outlining specific work procedures required to perform each job safely and effectively.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date safety documents and records for assigned areas, including procedure manuals, material safety data sheets, employee training records, a PPE grid for job classifications, and a database of recordable incidents, near-misses, and relevant investigations.
Track progress and on action items generated from incident investigations, safety audits, drills, and safety committee meetings.
What you have:
Bachelor's degree in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and training and 2 to 4 years job-specific work experience
Excellent working knowledge of OSHA safety disciplines and safety-related regulatory guidelines
PC proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite
What you're good at:
Communicating effectively in written, oral and interposed form with a wide range of individuals across the organization
Presenting information accurately and effectively to diverse audiences
Anticipating problems and implementing effective solutions before problems occur

This position is based in Thomasville and will require travel 50% of the time to support assigned facilities.
