ABOUT THE JOB
The Safety Intern is responsible for various projects assigned by members of the Health, Safety, Environmental team. The Intern will have the opportunity to support various functions within HSE with a focus on industrial safety.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Possible duties will include the following:
Assist with program creation and implementation
Incident investigation
Chemical and workplace safety
OSHA research
Complete audits and required follow-up
REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERRED BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE:
Previous experience not necessary
Completed second year of college towards B.S. Degree with a focus in Environmental or Safety
Excellent communication and time management skills
Excellent follow-up and organizational skills
Ability to work well both autonomously and as part of a collaborative group
Ability to source information from internal and external sources
Proficient at using Microsoft Office software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work in manufacturing areas where conditions may include odors, varying temperatures, wet floors, and moderate levels of noise
Wear personal protective equipment such as a respirator and chemical resistant suit
Ascend and descend stairs
Sit, stand, bend, reach, walk for extended periods of time in an office or manufacturing setting
