TITLE: Administrative Assistant I, Library
EMPLOYMENT TERMS: 1.0 FTE/10-months
SALARY CLASSIFICATION: Classified
GENERAL STATEMENT of RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Administrative Assistant in the library will be responsible for assisting in the successful operation of the school library. Responsibilities include maintaining a stimulating learning environment for students and providing a positive working relationship with students, faculty, and staff.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES:
Maintains a physical environment that is conducive to a positive learning environment.
Supervises students, as assigned, during non-instructional activities; including checking passes and overseeing student behavior in the library.
Supervises computer, printer, and copier usage by students.
Assists teachers in student instruction of basic library skills.
Assists teachers in scheduling classes into the library.
Assists students in locating and obtaining materials necessary to complete their assignments.
Processes incoming/outgoing library books and materials utilizing manual skills and computerized systems.
Catalogues and processes new books to make them shelf-ready.
Shelves returned books and materials.
Notifies for overdue books.
Trains and supervises student assistants.
Conuslts on new book orders.
Performs simple repairs on books, equipment, and other materials.
Maintains the circulation, cataloging and patron maintenance programs in the circulation system.
Prepares circulation reports.
Performs complete annual inventory.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

SKILLS REQUIRED:
Computer software expertise and keyboard skills
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess high school diploma or equivalent, library technician certificate preferred or combination of comparable education and experience.
Must possess a one to three years library experience, preferably in school setting.
Must be able to push, pull or lift weights up to 50 pounds.
No allergies to dust or the chemical solvents in glue, preferred.
Must possess thorough knowledge in the use of standard office machines and personal computers.
Must have ability to communicate and work well with staff, students, and parents.
