Position: Bilingual Speech-Language Pathologist (Part-time)

Title: Bilingual Speech-Language Pathologist

Reporting To: Clinical Director (CD)

Location: Lanham, Maryland (outpatient center)

Work Schedule: Tuesday thru Friday (10am - 7pm) and Saturday (8:30am - 3:30pm)

This is NOT a Clinical Fellowship Position

Key Functions:
  • Develop a curriculum that can help build communication skills
  • Assess communication (speech and language) skills through screenings and evaluation
  • Complete comprehensive assessments in the area of need
  • Conducts therapy sessions in accordance with Individual Educational Programs and other medical professionals' instructions.
  • Contributes to the development of Individual Educational Programs and Accommodation Plans.
  • Responsible for the re-evaluation of classified pupils as outlined in the state rules and regulations.
  • Participates in meetings concerning individual students when requested.
  • Consults with the parent, students, members of the Child Study Team, and other staff personnel.
  • Works cooperatively with community agencies, in concert with the District, concerned with the speech-language health of children.
  • Facilitates pupil growth and progress toward stated objectives of speech-language therapy.
  • Identify students at risk for later communication problems.
  • Complete daily documentation of services and outcomes.
  • Manage caseloads, services, and scheduling.
  • Perform small group and individual therapy based on client needs
  • Collaborate and consult with professionals, providers, families, and teachers.

Competencies:
  • Knowledge of fine motor, visual/perceptual-motor, sensorimotor, and sensory integration delays, and disorders
  • Excellent and effective oral communication and writing skills
  • Ability to meet federal and state regulations for licensure and certification
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to be flexible and creative
  • Strong diagnostic and therapeutic skills
  • Recognize the need to respond to culturally diverse communities
  • Understand, utilize, and remain abreast of best practices and therapy modalities within the field
  • Experience in evaluation, scoring, and interpreting assessments and screening measures

Qualifications:
  • Master's degree or higher in Speech-Language Pathology
  • State licensure and ASHA Certification in good standing
  • Experience in the field of speech-language pathology
  • Adaptable and flexible work schedule (e.g., evenings and Saturdays, if required)
  • Bilingual (Spanish) Speak, Read, & Write - required
  • Pediatric experience preferred

Working Conditions, Equipment, Physical Demands:
  • There is a reasonable expectation that employees in this position will not be exposed to blood-borne pathogens.
  • Physical Demands - Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
