Production Manager, Biosciences
The Production Manager's primary responsibility is to support our sales initiatives to plan, organize and ensure that the product is developed successfully. The role will oversee the manufacturing, production, and distribution of our fertilizer products, and directly manage 2-4 full-time production employees as well as temporary hourly associates. Duties include inventory control, work orders, leading others and personally operating various types of manufacturing equipment, while maintaining a safe, clean and organized working environment, and setting the example for crucial EH&S standards. Daily, the Production Manager has the autonomy to make key decisions which will directly affect the overall performance of the facility.
Where will you work: On-site - Plant City
What will you do?
Oversee plant operations including production, field, warehouse, shipping and receiving, maintenance and office management; ensure compliance with federal and state regulations; develop and/or approve all plant operating policies.
Support commercial team to manage and fulfill all sales orders; forecast and schedule production timelines, ensure availability of raw material and staff needs to deliver quality products, on time.
Identify all possible sources of raw material while monitoring quality and cost effectiveness; negotiate supplier and vendor contracts and ensure the quality of all purchased supplies and services.
Establish and monitor plant operating budget; identify and implement improvements to positively affect profitability. Recommend purchases of all capital equipment and plant expansion.
Work with third-party shipping companies to schedule product shipments and deliveries.
Establish, communicate, implement, and enforce safety programs and procedures.
Monitor and enforce quality control standards.
Lead and execute ongoing safety initiatives.
Direct, manage and develop personnel to ensure efficient and safe operation of the plant.
What do you need for this role?
Bachelor's degree in business administration, Finance, Engineering or related areas.
4-8 years in Plant Management
Experience managing crews of 10-50 people
Experience in Brewery, Fertilizer, Chemical, or Petrochemical industry preferred
Strong knowledge of maintenance and electrical, mechanical, PLC control systems and instrumentation
Knowledge of standard safety practices
Knowledge about Procurement tools like Strategic Sourcing, Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and Cost Breakdown.
Knowledge of finance concepts (raw material costs)
Skills to conduct strategic projects.
Ease of dealing with conflicts, collaborative communication, proactive and knowledge in how to work in multidisciplinary teams.
Good sense to prioritize activities and time organizing.
Identify opportunities and suggest improvements.
Forklift Certified
Proficient with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook
