Technical Support Automation Specialist, Level I Richmond, VA
Resolving product issues and customer questions as directed by Technical Support Team Leader in addition to interfacing with other team members working product support cases. Candidate will specialize in manning the Automation support hotline to support our lines of industrial PLCs, distributed IO, energy management devices, IIoT gateways, industrial power supplies, managed and unmanaged network switches. Work will include advanced troubleshooting; remote monitoring & diagnostics; interfacing with other engineering teams; regular status updates with customers and senior management. Direct named contact support for customers may also be involved. Assembling of control systems replicating customer architectures to enable troubleshooting will be required. This role is not eligible for hybrid or remote work option.
Description:
Role is call center centric
Provides product expertise to answer technical questions, provide guidance on control systems, and solve problems
Identify and resolve product issues as part of an overall effort to provide design, application, technical, and troubleshooting assistance to Weidmueller sales and Applied Solution Engineers, support engineers, certified support providers, distributors, and customers
Research and troubleshoot issues involving electrical/electronic control systems, PLC products, PLC applications/designs, energy monitors, WiFi radios, operator interfaces, and associated software
Design, assemble, test, and simulate systems to identify and resolve reported product issues/questions. Interface with other engineering teams on design, reliability, and maintainability for all products
Evaluate new product designs and features
Skills and Qualifications:
Graduated or First year + enrolled in Electronics Engineering Technology with Controls System experience will be considered
Enrolled in a electronic technical degree program with basic DC/AC circuits, Electronic circuits
Know how to use a DVM
PLC and operator interface panel experience
Strong written and oral communication skills
Strong troubleshooting skills
Positive attitude when dealing with customers and coworkers
Industrial Controls products as they relate to power distribution cabinets, machinery, wastewater, energy and process industries, such as but not limited to Analog and Digital Signaling, Power Supplies, Surge and Overvoltage Suppression, conventional wiring conventions, and how these products interact with other products utilized in Control Systems such as sensors, meters, PLC's
Good working knowledge of Ethernet and other fieldbus protocols
Programming knowledge of Python, Java, Codesys a plus
Familiarity with various approvals and agencies regulating the industries Weidmuller serves, such as but not limited to IEC, UL, CSA, NEC, NFPA
