Position Summary
This position provides direct clinical care to Wellesley College students including clinical assessments, risk assessments, individual and group therapy. Under the supervision of the Director of the Counseling Services and the Assistant Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Outreach, this position coordinates and facilitates the groups and outreach program and acts as a liaison to select campus partners or student groups. This position works in the Counseling Service as a member of the clinical team. The clinical team work includes participating in core staff meetings, team meetings, staff retreats, professional development and working collaboratively with other members of our clinical team to support high quality mental health care. It also includes participation in the Division of Student Affairs including attendance at divisional meetings and training sessions. In addition, the role includes clinical supervision of interns and trainees and participation in the after hours on-call rotation.
Primary Position Responsibilities
To provide direct clinical services including clinical assessment, risk assessment and safety planning, individual psychotherapy and group therapy
To provide emergency and after hours on-call services as part of our on-call rotation
To provide clinical supervision for interns and trainees
To assist in the coordination and development of counseling service groups, workshops and outreach programs
To serve as a liaison to select campus partners and/or student groups
To participate in the counseling service's Clinical Training Program by offering lectures, didactic training and/or facilitated discussion for our interns and trainees
Performance Profile
To help students become stabilized, gain greater insight and understanding, and be empowered to manage their mental health challenges
To assist the interns and trainees in gaining greater proficiency and efficiency in providing a variety of clinical and educational treatment modalities including individual and group therapy, training and educational workshops
To assist in providing urgent and emergent mental health support both during the day- as clinician of the day, and after hours- as on-call counselor, on a rotating basis
To be an effective team player and collaborator, as a member of the Counseling Service, as well as within the Division of Student Life
To maintain expertise as a mental health provider by following licensure requirements, ethical guidelines and practices, HIPAA and Mass State law
To remain open and flexible as the needs and demands of the student body, clinical practice, and higher ed best practices change and evolve
Supervisor Responsibilities
To provide clinical supervision to interns and trainees, who are part of the Clinical Training Program.
To co-facilitate groups and/or workshops with trainees
To work with trainees to develop groups and to facilitate their participation in outreach programs
Education Required
Doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, from an APA accredited institution, and licensed (or license eligible) to practice as a Psychologist Provider in Massachusetts ) OR
Master's degree in Social Work and licensed (or license eligible) to practice as a Clinical Social Worker in Massachusetts
Group counseling experience and an interest in outreach programming
Proficiency in assessing clinical risk and safety
Strength in working collaboratively
Experience Preferred
Experience in developing group and/or outreach programs
Experience in working cross-culturally with a diverse population of young adults
Experience working in higher education
