Our family of innovators offers world-class hydrometeorological technologies and services, including sensors, dataloggers, telemetry, and advanced analytics and software. Our technology and services empower the communities and organizations to survive - and thrive - in the face of escalating environmental risks.

The Business Development Manager (BDM) - Hydrology will play a key role in driving business growth by expanding AEM's presence within federal, state, and local government agencies, as well as other key accounts in the hydrology sector. The BDM will focus on identifying and securing new business opportunities with federal agencies, their state and local offices, and other hydrological organizations. This position requires a balance between managing high-value government relationships and driving sales within the broader hydrology market.

This position reports directly to the Director of North American Public Sector Sales and will work collaboratively with the go-to-market (GTM) team to drive targeted growth in the hydrology sector.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Business Development: Develop and execute comprehensive territory plans that target federal, state, and local governments, as well as other key accounts in the hydrology sector. Focus on expanding AEM's market presence across all relevant levels of government and hydrological institutions.

  • Federal & Local Engagement: Proactively identify, pursue, and win business with key federal agencies and their state and local offices, ensuring engagement across multiple levels of government.

  • Other Hydrological Accounts: In addition to federal and government clients, the BDM will be responsible for developing relationships with non-governmental hydrological organizations, academic institutions, and private sector accounts in the water management and environmental monitoring industries.

  • Grant Writing & Funding Support: Provide support to agencies and accounts in securing funding by assisting with grant writing and funding acquisition. Position AEM as a strategic partner in these processes.

  • Government Procurement Expertise: Navigate federal procurement processes, including FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulations) and contract vehicles (e.g., GSA, IDIQs), to accelerate opportunities and close contracts efficiently.

  • Solution Selling: Promote AEM's suite of solutions, including hydrology sensors, early warning systems, and real-time data platforms, tailored to meet the critical water monitoring needs of government agencies and other hydrological accounts.

  • Collaboration with Internal Teams: Work closely with the GTM team, including marketing, sales engineering, and product experts, to align AEM's solutions with the specific needs of federal, state, local, and other hydrological clients.

  • Bid & Proposal Management: Lead the development of proposals and bids for federal opportunities and other hydrological projects, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and compliance with procurement regulations.

  • Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with decision-makers and influencers within key agencies, hydrological institutions, and the private sector, positioning AEM as the go-to solution provider for hydrological monitoring.
