Main Objective:

The Product Manager, Spine, will plan, organize, and control the Spine product line from concept through product life cycles, optimizing profit while meeting marketing, financial, and corporate growth objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop new products in collaboration with Marketing, Engineering, and Sales Management.
  • Manage the day-to-day progress of the product.
  • Participate in overall product strategy, research, and development, and coordinate with manufacturing for new and emerging products.
  • Coordinate technical product development, profit estimations, and release to production.
  • Collaborate with functional teams such as sales, engineering, marketing, manufacturing, supply chain, and operations to develop product definitions based on customer needs and market opportunities.
  • Provide technical expertise and training to other departments supporting product development.
  • Conduct market analysis to define and prioritize customer and market requirements for the product.
  • Develop and maintain product roadmaps and marketing, sales, engineering, and financial plans.
  • Provide financial and technical justification for product selection and definition.
  • Prepare development objectives and schedules for all product phases and market introduction.
  • Conduct competitive analysis and market research to track trends within the industry.
  • Identify partnering opportunities to enhance the company's product portfolio.
  • Participate in key sales situations for the product.
  • Maintain communications to gather and analyze technical, financial, schedule, and sales data for the product line.
  • Develop market potential, pricing, and market strategies, as well as manage product through its lifecycle.
  • Oversee product surveillance and ensure established products meet financial objectives.
  • Track product development through its lifecycle, from concept to release, addressing any issues that arise.
  • Drive and champion development requirements, minimizing project risk, and provide reports to senior management.
  • Determine initial production quantities and forecast future needs.
  • Act as the primary liaison with customers for all matters related to the product.
  • Provide technical assistance for complex customer issues and streamline internal processes.
  • Work with project teams to outline work plans, assign duties, define schedules, and scope.
  • Review status reports and modify plans as required to meet customer and financial goals.
  • Prepare technical and financial reviews and present to senior managers and other stakeholders.
  • Prioritize workloads to meet customer objectives and ensure high skill levels within the team.
  • Establish operational objectives and delegate responsibilities to project teams.
  • Direct and coordinate project teams (engineering, manufacturing, procurement, marketing, quality) to ensure timely and budget-compliant progress.
  • Perform market analysis, product strategy, and research to support product development.
  • Conduct training for surgeons and sales reps on product use and procedures.
  • Ensure customer requirements are met and monitor all related documentation.
  • Define and oversee promotional activities for the product.
  • Maintain relationships with key surgeons and industry professionals.
Required Travel:

  • Up to 40%
  • This is an in-office position based in Naples, FL (not remote).
Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in business, engineering, or clinical fields.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in medical device development, product management, engineering, sales, marketing, or clinical experience is required.
  • Experience in spine products is required.
  • Strong understanding of all functions involved in product development, production, and marketing is preferred.
  • Proven ability to travel for past roles.
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

  • Knowledge of neurosurgical, surgical orthopedics, and/or arthroscopy.
  • Skilled at coordinating multiple functions to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Excellent listening, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Strong public speaking and presentation abilities.
  • Proficient with orthopedic power tools and surgical hand instrumentation.
  • Ability to work with cadaveric specimens.
