hackajob is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join the growing team in Sterling, VA. This individual will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced network infrastructure solutions, ensuring the reliability and security of our IT systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in IT infrastructure, including WAN, LAN, cloud environments, and firewalls, and will play a key role in optimizing and securing the network to support our growing business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and manage complex network infrastructures, including LAN, WAN, and cloud-based environments.
Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot networking devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers to ensure optimal performance and security.
Manage and maintain secure cloud network environments (AWS, Azure, etc.), including hybrid cloud architectures and integrations.
Ensure the network infrastructure is optimized for high availability, scalability, and performance while meeting business needs and compliance requirements.
Work closely with cross-functional teams to design network solutions that support application deployments, virtualized environments, and data storage needs.
Configure and maintain firewalls and other network security devices to protect against internal and external threats.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues, providing timely support to internal teams and external stakeholders.
Develop and implement network monitoring and reporting tools to ensure proactive maintenance, identify potential bottlenecks, and optimize performance.
Prepare and maintain detailed network documentation, including architecture diagrams, network configurations, and troubleshooting procedures.
Qualifications:
Must have an Active Security clearance
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
5+ years of hands-on experience in network engineering, with a strong background in IT infrastructure, including WAN, LAN, and cloud-based networks.
Proficiency with networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VPNs, etc.) and technologies (routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers).
Expertise in cloud networking solutions and hybrid cloud deployments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
Strong experience with network security tools and techniques, including firewall configuration, intrusion detection/prevention, and secure remote access.
Must have an Active IAT II certification - Security +
