Job Description:

The position ensures global purchasing standards within FMS NA are observed and liaises with European counterparts

The Purchasing Manager ensures our purchasing and procurement process for the region.
  1. The position is responsible for proper supplier evaluation and development and optimizes our internal and external processes in that area.
  2. Furthermore, the positions develop strategic relationships with suppliers and reduce regional procurement spend.
  3. This is to be done through negotiations, working with SCM, R&D & Operations to develop lighter basis weight products, and synergistic relationships with our key suppliers.
  4. The position has to manage risk according to the purchasing material and suppliers.
  5. The position is also responsible for purchasing with regards to CAPEX & maintaining projects.


Responsibilities
  • Manages the complete purchasing process in the region
  • Definition of the regional purchasing strategy, relocation and displacement of the suppliers, supplier development and integration, advanced purchasing
  • Definition of the supply and replenishment strategy
  • Lead and/or participate in multiple complex and strategic sourcing initiatives of all relevant purchases.
  • Once contracts have been agreed to with suppliers, purchasing within framework of contract is turned over to local purchasing group.
  • Global benchmark process, bundling, standardization.
  • Develop market expertise in assigned spend categories and remain current on supply market trends, business economics and best sourcing practices that impact the supply market and/or supplier economics
  • Manage the complete purchasing process in the region.
  • Responsible for purchasing relationship between other Forbo divisions to find additional purchasing synergies
  • Business specific development of purchasing processes
  • Cooperation with management for the strategic development of the company
  • Execution of supplier selection process; new supplier development
  • Translate the requirements of Research and Development as well as Business development into contractual requirements and deliverables
  • Looks for purchasing potentials in terms of the monetary benefits
  • Definition and execution of the supplier capacity check
  • Professionally manage purchasing credit terms in accordance with group policies
  • Ensure local buyers are carrying out negotiated contracts with suppliers
  • Risk management / contingency plan
  • Create & maintain SAP MM orders
  • Keeps purchasing relevant SAP master data updated
  • Process implementation and improvement
  • Development of the purchasing methods, tool & KPI'S
  • Controlling of the purchasing processes and KPI's
  • Project Management for purchasing projects
  • Process data management
  • Personnel management and planning as well as the motivation and promotion of staff categories and remain current on supply market trends, business economics and best sourcing practices that impact the supply market and/or supplier economics

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7-10 years relevant business experience in Purchasing. Experience must include Strategic procurement.
  • Demonstrated experience in supervisory role, exhibiting strong leadership and management skills in guiding and overseeing team members to achieve objectives.
  • Minimum bachelor's degree required.
  • Deep understanding of purchasing in manufacturing environment
  • Deep understanding of procurement best practices and trends
  • Multi-functional background with both HQ and Field experience appreciated
  • Customer-facing experience
  • Experience with labor relations appreciated
  • Exceptional leadership skills and ability to manage complexity in an ever-changing environment
  • Strong communicator, both written, verbal and presentation skills expected
  • High results-orientation and hands-on engaged management style
  • Customer focused and "does what it takes" mentality
  • Willingness to travel 10-15%

  • Minimum 5 years SAP MM experience
  • MS-applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • CPSM certification
