REQUIREMENTS: A minimum of 2-5yrs hands-on exp. within casting as a Quality Engineering Supervisor. Experience within (investment casting, casting, foundry industry related to Aerospace, Automotive and IGT Products. Tooling design, AS9100, QMS (Quality Management System), NADCAP Audit checklist for Heat Treat, FAA, OSHA, DCMA, ISO 9001, Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing Principles with strong working knowledge of GD&T. "Must have supervised projects using processes and templates. Need to have qualified parts from beginning to end. Also, will be expected to roll up your sleeves and work side by side with the team when needed".
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead team to develop cost effective tooling, dimensional and other processes required to produce and control the metallurgical and NOT integrity of product assuring it satisfies customer requirements using tools that test the strength and capabilities of the process both metallurgically and dimensionally.
Supervise projects using process and templates to qualify parts that are manufacture friendly and meet process expectations relative to cost within original committed time frames.
Maintain overall operational sequences for part manufacture in conjunction with Administrative, Manufacturing, Dimensional, Quality, and NOT disciplines.
Lead corrective action root cause with Quality Manager and Continuous Improvement Tracker with Operations Manager.
Mentor and develop staff, implement and adhere to Engineering ChangeNotice/Process Change Revision.
Supervise and oversee project timelines to bring productsto market in an expeditious fashion providing regular status updates to plant leadership.
Provide technical supportto Sales duringpart quotations and the reviewof drawings and specifications. Provide management with inputrelative to designand part specification criteria, lead times,and improvements.
Support and/or develop quotes for tooling customersas required by Inside Sales, Manage BOMs and ensureaccurate standard costs.
Support with establishing and maintaining an effective communication with multidiscipline teams.
Keep milestoneupdates and obtain agreement from internal and external customers.
Support with developing monthly reports on part status and milestone progressto management team and senior staff. (NPI pipeline)
Work and support multiple departments during the development process.
Conduct effective customer and supplier communication dealing with metallurgical and other issues related to the product and process. Support customerneeds with respect to overall product quality, cost reductions and general goodwill.
Oversee the troubleshooting in production processes related to Engineering.
Communicate with toolingvendors to designconcepts for tooling.
Oversee the construction of tooling needed to produce and inspect cores, patterns, and castings.
Provide support and/or oversee the creation of work instructions for all production processes including the documentation of work proceduresand processes.
Work with shop floor personnelto provide understanding of work instructions.
Enforce safety standards.
Routinely audit production lots for adherenceto established techniques and to ensurethe repeatability of the results.
Research new manufacturing techniques and processes focusedon reducing costs and improving quality.
Prepare technical notes and reports dealing with proposed process improvements.
Identify, evaluate and implement new process technologies that advance manufacturing and product capabilities.
Identify and address processyields using variousdata analysis techniques (statistical, mathematical, DOE, 6 Sigma, AS9100, etc.) to uncover variables in the process that are not maintained in a controlled fashion.
Compile and monitorscrap statistics on a daily/monthly/annual basis to meet facilitytargets.
Identify gage R&R, SPC, non-straightening processesand other cost reduction initiatives.
Improve labor utilization and reduce cost of components.
Maintain a positive work atmosphere with respect and communicate in a professional manner.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: BS in Manufacturing, Metallurgical or Mechanical Engineering preferred. Other engineering disciplines may be considered based on previous work experience.
Experience: 2 to 5 years of applicable experience (investment casting, toolingdesign, and CAD [preferably NX] experience).
Proven success in process improvements using mathematical and statistical problem-solving techniques to identify process.
Supervised projects using process and templates to qualify parts from beginning to end.
Will need to not just supervise but physically step in when need be and work side by side with the team.
Variations in manufacturing processes with many contributing variables, increasing levels of responsibility.
OTHER REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SILLS & ABILITIES:
Excellent engineering skills. Knowledge of investment casting, casting, and/or foundry industry related to Aerospaceand IGT products.
