Immediate opening for a senior role in a publicly traded oil and gas client in The Woodlands. This position will start out contract and the role is open immediately. Once full time the benefits are paid 100% by the company, work from home one day a week, excellent retirement plan.
The Senior Benefits Specialist will be responsible for supporting the Director, Compensation and Benefits through the administration of Total Rewards programs in the US to ensure they are delivered in accordance with plan documents, regulatory requirements, internal processes, and policies. Applies advanced knowledge of benefits techniques, processes, and practices. This person will collaborate effectively with external vendors and all levels within the organization.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Provides advice to employees on benefit policies, practices, programs, and guidelines and identifies, researches, and resolves complex matters.
Lead or assist all current benefit programs such as open enrollment, benefit fairs, wellness events, new hire orientation, and projects.
Manages and monitors operation and configuration of HRIS system as it relates to benefits administration and employee functionality.
Manage the exchange of information with carriers and external brokers for claim and utilization data, enrollment information and invoice review. Ensures ongoing accuracy, integrity and completeness of data and processes in the system.
Monitors and ensures timely completion of audit, compliance and reporting activities related to US benefit plans including regulatory filings and updates, notices, ACA mandates & reporting, and plan audits, as required. Remains up to date with industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices, making recommendations to management for change.
Assists in research and data trend analysis to make informed recommendations regarding the company's benefit programs. Prepares and delivers concise reports to leadership regarding the effectiveness of benefit programs and recommendations for improvement.
Reviews and assesses efficiency of internal procedures and processes; documents processes; recommends appropriate changes to support automation and continuous improvement.
Delivers training and ongoing guidance, effectively promoting benefit programs and initiatives to HR, management, and employees.
Works collaboratively with internal business units to recommend solutions to resolve benefit issues and serves as an ongoing resource to the entire organization on benefit inquiries and issues.
Education & Certification
Bachelor's Degree required. Professional certification such as SHRM, CEBS (Certified Employee Benefits Specialist) or CCP (Certified Compensation Professional) designation preferred.
Work Experience
5+ years' experience with US health and welfare and retirement benefit programs and administration.
Skills & Abilities
Excellent technology and Excel skills with Workday experience strongly preferred.
Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with management, peers, and other business units, as well as external vendors. Maintains confidentiality and accuracy while performing duties.
Strong knowledge of benefit plan design and implementation, with experience administering medical, dental, vision, life insurance, COBRA, disability, and retirement plans.
Experience with benefits plan compliance, including ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, and other applicable laws and regulations.
Strong analytical skills and ability to use and communicate data to make informed decisions.
Excellent collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex benefit information with employees at all levels.
Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
