The Temporary Perinatal Hepatitis C Surveillance Nurse will provide clinical expertise and enhance our ability to identify pregnant persons and children exposed to hepatitis and connect them to services that will improve their health outcomes.
Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Providing medical record abstraction for perinatal hepatitis C cases
Reviewing infectious disease reports to determine infection status of the birth parent and exposed infant/child
Sharing educational materials and updated guidance to providers who work with pregnant people, postpartum people, and children
Utilization of the infectious disease surveillance system to document case notes and update information to support the medical record/chart abstraction of infants and birth parent
Contacting providers to discuss test results and appropriate testing resources
Attending CDC jurisdictional calls
Referral of infants/children with hepatitis C to the Office of Maternal Child and Family Health (OMCFH)
Travel to birth facilities
Minimum Qualifications
Training: Baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited four-year college or university and two years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience as a registered professional nurse.
OR
Successful completion of an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university or a diploma nursing program and three years of experience as a registered professional nurse.
OR
Professional certification from a recognized national nursing certifying organization as a nurse or nurse practitioner in the area of assignment plus two years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience as a registered professional nurse.
OR
Successful completion of an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university or a diploma nursing program; plus baccalaureate degree in the health sciences or behavioral sciences and two years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in nursing.
OR
Master's degree in nursing from an accredited four-year college or university.
Special Requirement: Current West Virginia license or temporary permit to practice as a registered professional nurse.
