Education: Bachelor's degree in social services or a related field, associate's degree with 2 years' experience or 4 years of related experience.



Experience: Required 1 year of experience teaching, and/or facilitating curriculum-based instruction.



Supervises: None



Summary: The Educator is responsible for using sound professional judgment and best practices to ensure quality services are provided to the service population while maintaining compliance with established program standards. To successfully perform this job, the employee may be expected to perform the following, with or without reasonable accommodations in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990:



Essential Functions:

1. Outreach and recruitment of participants for community-based education, including efforts for minimizing attrition.
2. Establishes and maintains a trusting and professional working relationship with families and target population.
3. Collaborate with Mental Health Clinician, Community Consortium Coordinator to provide community edcuation.
4. Conduct group-based health and parenting education sessions tailored to meet the needs of the target population. Topics include but are not limited to: Preventative Health Services, Behavioral Health and Wellness, Maternal Mental Health, Infant Care, Parenting, Community-Based Resources & Benefits, etc.
5. Conduct surveys among the program participants to help identify most needed topics.
6. Foster supportive connections between participants.
5. Ensure transportation, child care, and meals are provided for participants attending education sessions.
6. Disseminate educational material related to prenatal health, post-partum, parenting, and child development to participants and within the target population's community.
7. Attends community events to perform outreach, and recruitment.
8. Records all activities in a complete, concise, and timely manner utilizing program forms into Salesforce (BCFS) software.
9. Meets with Program Director and Program Supervisor on a bi-weekly basis to evaluate status of education plan
10. Maintains timely and accurate file documentation and data entry that meets the program requirements.
11. Report any suspected abuse or neglect to the Program Director and all appropriate state and county enforcement agencies.
12. Meet all deadlines required by Program Supervisor, Program Director, Regional Director and state/federal partners.
13. Maintains own schedule of education classes and events.
14. Identifies and maintains professional relationships with clients and community partners.
15. Attends and participates in staff meetings, in-service trainings and case consultations. Performs other duties as assigned.



Measurable Deliverables:

1. Facilitate education sessions twice a week (in-person, virtual, or hybrid).
2. Collaborate with Program Supervisor to provide group based education to a minimum of 250 unduplicated participants annually.
3. Provide referrals, and other support services to participants
4. Enters required data into all required systems and submit monthly reports as specified by Program Director.
5. Attend all required trainings.
6. Provide community education on health and parenting.
7. Develop together with Program Director, updates, reminders, and community education information.
8. Maintains BCFS HHS professional and ethical standards of conduct outlined in the BCFS employee handbook including demonstrating respect for agency staff, the service population, and community members and complying with the required dress code at all times.
Credentials, Skills and Abilities:
1. Maintain current licenses and certificates required for the position including but not limited to:
•First Aid • CPR •Other ________________________________________
2. Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens and maintain emotional control and professional composure at all times.
3. Provide proof or work eligibility status upon request.
4. Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background and motor vehicle check
(fingerprints needed if applicant has lived out of state within the past 5 years)
5. Demonstrate the ability to:
a. Respond sensitively and competently to the service population's cultural and socio-economic characteristics.
b. Communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English and Spanish (preferable).
c. Work in a fast paced environment.
d. Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position.
e. Work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
f. Travel as needed.
g. Manage time effectively and efficiently.
6. Bilingual preferred (Spanish)
