Position Summary:
Provide leadership and implement strategic direction for the PPS function. This includes proactive organization and discipline to achieve its targets and objectives to continuously improve the processes and performance within the PPS area of responsibilities.
A key role of this job is to monitor forecasts and customer patterns to ensure an on-time delivery is met.
Works closely with Operations, Product Management, Sales, Marketing, Product Development, and Customer Service to implement & execute strategic planning strategies.
This position requires excellent multi-tasking skills, attention to detail, the ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment requiring a high sense of urgency to accuracy and meeting deadlines.
Goal is to ensure cost-efficient, accurate and timely fulfillment of customer demands.
Job Duties/Tasks:
Responsible for effective management and supervision of personnel.
Responsible for providing on-the-job training to ensure the deputy system is working flawlessly and that personnel work efficiently, effectively, according to the deadlines and without errors.
Ensure that Polymerization schedules are planned based on Compounding needs. Ensure that Compounding schedules are planned as efficient as possible. This includes combining smaller volumes to bigger runs, avoid having too many changeovers and following the chemical base polymer as a lead for the schedules. Schedules must be adjusted every day in the system, and multiple times on the server as a PDF copy.
Ensure that all RMs are on stock and avoid having interruptions in production due to missing raw materials. It is key that the raw material forecast is as accurate as possible (minimum 3 months). Work closely together with the global procurement department for all global raw materials and ensure that local raw material are delivered on time, negotiate pricing and find new suppliers. Additionally it needs to be checked that logistically the material is delivered as cost-efficient as possible.
Ensure that all batches are closed on-time for month-end for both Compounding and Polymerization. Production orders must be closed and errors must be resolved to ensure Accounting can manage their month end deadlines.
Ensure that all traded products are ordered on-time per the contract terms to avoid any delays to the customer. This role needs to work closely with Operation, Sales, Product Management, Quality and Customer Service to make business decisions regarding if production of materials should be local or imported for new projects.
Decision making and good communications is a must to ensure all departments, customers, management, etc. are informed of any changes, issues, or delays in shipment/delivery of produced products to the customer.
Control and adjust finished products inventory levels of produced and inter-company finished good purchases to ensure optimum inventory levels and achievement of on-time delivery metrics.
Work closely together with Sales and Customer service to ensure on time deliveries to the customer. The forecast must be taken into account for the schedules. Stock products must always be available, customer and order products must be available within 8 weeks. The goal is to have the material on hand one month prior delivery date. Sales and Customer Service are key players to give accurate forecasts for the production schedules.
Ensure that the scrap/broker material is sold on regular bases. New possible customers must be checked from time to time in case of current supplier does not want to continue the business.
Develop procedures, processes and work instructions for production planning and scheduling - the work instructions must be updated annually to support internal and external audits and to ensure procedures are current and accurate. In case of process changes the work instruction must be updated as well. Continuing improving the processes, the system and the department.
Additional tasks and projects assigned as needed.
Education or Equivalent Work Experience Required:
Requires Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics or General Business or equivalent work experience of 3-5 years. Must have previous experience managing people and teams
