What is the role?

Michaels Energy is seeking an Associate Product Manager to manage non-complex energy efficiency program portfolios or portions of larger portfolios. This includes both day-to-day program operations and broader program management. The Associate PM will work closely with the Product Management team and delivery teams to create and deliver program plans, track budgets and KPIs, and program reporting. We are looking for someone with strong organizational, planning, and communication skills and a passion for energy efficiency who will thrive in a team environment and will exemplify our core values.

Program and portfolio management

  • Work closely with Product Management to deliver an assigned portfolio of energy efficiency programs.
  • Manage the day-to-day tasks and responsibilities including program tracking, reports, notes, communicating action items, project set-up, follow-up, and scheduling.
  • Tracks and reports on key metrics for assigned programs.
  • Manage programs or initiatives with limited direction.
  • Participate in and guide meetings with internal and external partners, customers, and clients.
  • Work closely with cross-functional program delivery teams to achieve goals drive program deliverables and create a positive customer experience.
  • Establishing and delivering the program and marketing strategy, roadmap, and deliverables.
  • Monitors budget and timelines at the program level.
  • Identifies the level of staffing resources needed and works with engineering and other groups to secure those resources.

Client Satisfaction

  • Main point of contact for assigned clients.
  • Responsible for goal achievement and client satisfaction.
  • Answers questions on the status of projects, initiatives, and deliverables tied to program delivery.
  • Assist in communicating with and managing external subcontractors, vendors, and program partners.
  • Works to expand client share.

After 3 months, you will have.

  • Learned Michaels' internal processes and business practices
  • Been introduced to and assumed primary Point of Contact for key client contacts
  • A thorough understanding of assigned efficiency programs

After 6 months, you will have.

  • Learned all day-to-day program portfolio operations
  • Taken the lead on assigned program portfolio management

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of two years combining any of the following:
    • Energy efficiency industry - e.g., utilities or performance contracting
    • Project Management
  • Ability to help develop and deliver road maps for program delivery
  • Exceptional organizational, time-management, and planning skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-starter with high levels of personal accountability
  • Influential leadership skills to align cross-functional teams
  • Project management skills with the ability to set priorities, collect and document project requirements
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting client deadlines
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability with a proactive and collaborative style
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and the ability to quickly learn new software systems.

  • Preference given to candidates in Iowa or upper Midwest locations

Pay Range

$85,000 - $100,000 + regional adjustment if applicable
