The Director of Architecture & Building Design for Drury Southwest is responsible for the conceptualization, schematic design, code research, and final construction drawings for all projects undertaken by the company and its executive teams. Whether an existing or proposed asset of the company, the Director of Architecture & Building Design is charged with developing design programs for individual projects that meet the aesthetic, economic, and life cycle constraints and commitments required for each project.
Duties
Assemble project design teams and assign projects/tasks.
Work with Development, Real Estate, and Construction Executive Teams to establish project budgets, construction & design parameters, and completion schedules.
Coordinate Interior Design requirements with the Manager of Interior Design.
Coordinate design schedules with the Director of Renovations.
Coordinate program due diligence with respect to architectural needs to Real Estate Team and Executive Team for project evaluations.
Guide and direct individual project teams through the concept, schematic, and working drawing stages of each project through regular meetings with respective project leaders.
Assist Real Estate & Development Teams with submission, review, and response to respective municipalities regarding obtaining approvals, permits, and final releases to construct or rehabilitate all projects.
Direct the continuing development of project archives, project files, and specification data to be used by all company divisions as they see fit.
Serve as a Company Representative for response to, and defense of, project assets and their design with respect to lawsuits and claims in conjunction with legal team representatives.
Serve as a facilitator and representative for DSW with ongoing projects and initiatives involving Drury Development, Drury Hotels, DI Supply, and Columbia Construction.
Advise and assist construction teams as individual projects proceed and complete.
Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited school of architecture.
Professional certification as a Registered Architect in multiple states.
Ongoing and continuing education in various areas of specialization.
Familiarity with REVIT, AUTOCAD, Sketch Up, Microsoft Office programs, Municipal, State and National Building Codes, The Americans with Disabilities Act, and Drury Southwest building specifications and construction methods
