Job Summary:

The HIL/SIL Engineer is a role within the Vehicle Electronics Team, responsible for establishing test and integration capability within the labs and providing support to the software verification engineers in creating test plans and test cases, along with test execution.

We are looking for a HIL/SIL Engineer to work for our Sterling Heights, MI office. POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Essential Functions:

  • Lead the development of the integration labs to enable the verification team by addressing lab needs for each program, identifying necessary test equipment, setting up the integration environment, designing (and possibly fabricating) test wiring harnesses, and troubleshooting issues with minimal supervision.
  • Lead/supervise a verification team, either internal or external partners, to plan and execute the software verification activities, to include reviewing requirements specifications for testability, leveraging use cases in support of test case development, planning and executing improvements to the test environment and infrastructure.
  • Develop automated and manual tests, tracing tests to requirements to ensure complete test coverage.
  • Identify and diagnose software defects, verifying software correctness, and reporting results.
  • Manage software verification efforts to meet cost, quality, performance, and schedule requirements.
  • Develop test plans, procedures, descriptions, and reports for delivery to customer in accordance with DoD Data Item Descriptions (DIDs).
  • Support and adhere to all company safety and environmental regulations & policies.

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • None

Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (as demonstrated through experience, training and/or testing)

  • Experience using NI and/or dSPACE tool suites for development of automated test procedures
  • Hands on experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multi-meters, logic analyzers, function generators, network analyzers, and spectrum analyzers
  • Knowledge of common vehicle electrical interfaces (Ethernet, CAN, RS232/422/485, USB, analog/digital signals, video, etc.)
  • Experience writing test scripts (C, C++, Python)
  • Familiarity with the US DoD ground vehicle requirements
  • Practical ‘hands on’ attitude with the ability to operate independently
  • General knowledge of Military Standards and regulations
  • Ability to present technical solutions to clients and internal stakeholders
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in a variety of settings and be able to assimilate complex instructions easily
  • Must demonstrate an enthusiasm to engage with and support overseas colleagues
  • Must be able to obtain an active U.S. Security Clearance

Education:

  • BSc Engineering (e.g. Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, Systems, Software, Aerospace, Automotive)

Experience:

  • 10 or more years’ experience in software verification, hardware-in-the-loop, or technology integration experience
  • Experience preparing software verification artifacts and presentation materials for a Test Readiness Review (TRR) with the customer on a DoD program.
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, and Integration Lab Scheduler tools
  • Experience of working in a multi-national, multi-organizational and corporate environment

Background Prerequisites:

  • Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks and controlled substance testing.
  • Employment at ARV is contingent upon the ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance if the position requires it.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Physical testing experience
  • HIL/SIL experience
  • Ability to speak German desired
  • MSc Engineering desired (e.g. Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, Systems, Software Aerospace, Automotive)
