Performs treatment planning activities including computerized dosimetry for radiotherapy patients (neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric), treatment device fabrication (molds, blocks, compensators, etc) and simulation. Provides basic patient care to patients when performing procedures and treatments. This hybrid position offers a four day work weeks with time in clinic and working remotely.YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

1 - 2 Years equivalent experience preferred

Willing to certify, license or recent new graduate within 12 months

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's Degree required

LICENSE & CERTIFICATION:

Be a graduate of a Medical Dosimetry JRCERT 12 month or longer accredited program.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

Knowledge and understanding of 2D, 3D, IMRT, brachytherapy (including LDR and HDR) treatment planning.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

In conjunction with the Radiation Oncologist, the dosimetrist supervises port set-up, localization of tumor, prepares contours, and produces treatment plans by computerized treatment planning systems.


  • Communicates the development of the optimal treatment plan with the Radiation Oncologists.
  • Responsible for the mathematical accuracy and dose calculations of patient's radiotherapy charts.
  • Assists with treatment planning CT simulations. Fabrication and design of custom-made blocks, compensating filters, immobilization positioning devices and bolus material as required.
  • Participation in radiation safety requirements of department including surveys of brachytherapy patient's rooms, posting radiation warning signs, distribution and ordering of personnel monitoring devices.
  • Maintains logbooks and radioactive shipments in brachytherapy source room. Cleans room and equipment.
  • Prepares radioactive materials for patient use and assists Radiation Oncologist during special procedures in the O.R., Radiation Oncology department and patient room.
  • Prepares dose calculations for intercavitary and interstitial implant procedures.
  • Complete quality assurance on treatment planning systems to check accuracy and consistency of data output for daily calculations and monthly system check.
  • Inputs treatment planning charges for patient billing into the computer system as services are rendered..
  • Other duties as assigned.
