Your Role
The Business Development Manager - Northeast will play a crucial role in identifying, developing, and managing new business opportunities within the emerging biotech sector, specifically focusing on the transition from early process development to GMP biomanufacturing. An essentials skill required is a hunting mindset for partners to position and conduct seeding activities of our platform portfolios.
This individual will work closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Customer Applications, Technical Services, and other MilliporeSigma Life Sciences partners to drive strategic partnerships and business growth. This role requires strong networking, excellent listening skills and customer engagement including participation at customer sites, regional/national conferences, symposiums and internal events.
Key Responsibilities:
Opportunity Identification: Identify and evaluate new business opportunities within emerging biotech for end-to-end biomanufacturing processing.
Strategic Partnerships: Build and maintain strong relationships with biotech companies, academic institutions, and research organizations to foster strategic collaborations and licensing agreements.
Emerging Biotech Market: Comprehensive emerging biotech market understanding to correctly identify emerging trends, competitive landscape, and potential partners or clients. The candidate must be able to consolidate and share with internal partners for further analysis. Utilize insights to inform business strategy and decision-making.
Project Management: Oversee the progress of all the activities, including partnerships, customer engagements, coordinating customer support, seeding of products and services, with external and internal partners.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including R&D, customer applications, technical services, technology management and legal, to align business development activities with the company's scientific objectives.
Industry Engagement: Represent the company at industry conferences, meetings, and networking events to stay informed about industry developments and promote MilliporeSigma's capabilities.
Who You Are
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, or a related field. Advanced degree (MBA, PhD) is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of emphasis on biotech or pharmaceutical industry, production of biologics is a plus.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of biotech R&D processes, clinical trial phases, and the regulatory landscape. Familiarity with current trends and challenges in the biotech sector. Experience as a biomanufacturing/process development scientist a plus.
Skills: Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities. Proficiency in project management and business analysis tools.
Attributes: Customer centric, self-motivated, results-driven, strong listening skills and capable of working independently as well as a strong collaborator. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to a fast-paced environment
Role is based in the Northeast.
Pay Range for this position: $96,300.00 - $167,500.00
