Position Summary:



We are seeking an experienced and visionary Vice President of Technology Program Management to lead critical infrastructure and cloud transformation initiatives. This role is responsible for building a world-class Program Management Office (PMO) driving delivery, acceleration of transformative programs, and ensuring strategic alignment with organizational objectives. Acting as the communication hub & financial protector, and trusted partner to business units, the VP will be instrumental in fostering transparency, optimizing program execution, and delivering measurable value. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of scaling PMOs, accelerating delivery timelines, managing enterprise-level transformation programs and delivering outcomes within financial expectations.



Key Responsibilities:




  • Strategic Leadership:



    • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of high-impact technology programs, including infrastructure modernization and cloud transformation.


    • Partner with senior leadership to identify opportunities to accelerate program delivery and achieve business goals faster.


    • Provide thought leadership to shape and align program strategies with organizational priorities.





  • Building and Scaling a PMO:



    • Establish a best-in-class PMO organization from the ground up, creating the frameworks, tools, and processes required for efficient and scalable program management.


    • Develop and implement governance models to standardize delivery practices and ensure consistent program execution.


    • Create a culture of accountability and performance measurement, using KPIs and metrics to track progress and drive continuous improvement.





  • Accelerating Delivery:



    • Act as a key resource to identify bottlenecks, streamline workflows, and eliminate inefficiencies to accelerate delivery timelines.


    • Champion innovation in delivery methodologies, leveraging agile, waterfall, and hybrid approaches to suit program needs.


    • Foster a sense of urgency and commitment across teams to meet and exceed delivery expectations.





  • Financial Management:



    • Oversee the financial planning and management of all programs, ensuring alignment with organizational budgets and financial goals.


    • Track and manage program budgets, forecast financial impacts, and implement cost-control measures as needed.


    • Provide regular financial reporting and insights to executive leadership, identifying opportunities for cost optimization without compromising quality or delivery timelines.





  • Program Delivery Excellence:



    • Oversee the successful delivery of programs on time, within budget, and meeting defined business outcomes.


    • Proactively identify risks and opportunities, ensuring robust mitigation strategies are in place.


    • Promote the adoption of best practices to enhance quality and speed of execution.





  • Communication Hub:



    • Serve as the primary interface between the PMO and business units, providing clarity and transparency regarding program progress, challenges, and outcomes.


    • Facilitate open and effective communication to ensure alignment between technical teams and business stakeholders.


    • Regularly present program updates, risks, and successes to executive leadership and key stakeholders.





  • Relationship Building:



    • Cultivate strong relationships across business units, IT teams, and external partners to drive collaboration and program success.


    • Act as a trusted advisor, ensuring stakeholders are engaged, informed, and aligned with program goals.





  • Team Leadership and Development:



    • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of program managers and delivery professionals.


    • Promote a collaborative and results-driven culture, empowering team members to excel in their roles.







Minimum Requirements



Typically requires 15+ years of professional experience and 10+ years of diversified leadership, planning, communication, organization, and people motivation skills (or equivalent experience).



Qualifications:




  • Experience:



    • 15+ years of experience in program and project management, with a focus on technology, infrastructure, and cloud transformation.


    • Demonstrated success in building and scaling PMOs, driving delivery acceleration, and managing enterprise-scale initiatives.


    • Proven ability to deliver complex programs within aggressive timelines while maintaining high-quality outcomes.





  • Technical Expertise:



    • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, cloud technologies, and digital transformation trends.


    • Expertise in agile, waterfall, and hybrid delivery methodologies.





  • Leadership Skills:



    • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.


    • Visionary leadership with a strategic mindset and a focus on execution.


    • Experience recruiting, developing, and retaining top talent in a high-performance environment.





Education:



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.





Certifications:



  • PMP, PgMP, or other relevant certifications preferred

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. $180,800 - $301,300
