About the role:

We are looking for a Research Assistant III to work on technology development for isolating and analyzing extracellular vesicles (EVs). You will work with a multidisciplinary team on developing technologies for investigating pathological states from EVs in human biofluids. You will contribute to the development of novel methods that will be used across different neurodegenerative diseases to better diagnose and characterize these diseases. Although you will work within a team and receive significant experimental and computational training, you will also have opportunities for scientific independence, and previous RAs working with us have contributed to multiple publications and presented their work at international conferences.





Position Description

What you'll do:
  • Work in collaboration with senior lab members to develop new EV isolation and analysis technologies.
  • Develop expertise in new and established techniques for profiling of EVs from human biofluids in neurodegenerative disease and other disease states.
  • Provide training and guidance to other lab members on experimental technique.
  • Perform lab maintenance such as maintaining and/or purchasing equipment and ordering supplies, as required.
  • Present data at internal Wyss meetings with supervision from senior lab members.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness through actions, interactions, and communications with others.


Basic Qualifications

What you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in a biological science or related field is required. Two or more years of research experience in molecular biology or biochemistry is required.


Additional Qualifications and Skills

Desirable skills:
  • Full time, post-university research experience is strongly preferred, however exceptional candidates with two or more years of undergraduate research experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience with one or more of the following is advantageous: programming of liquid handling robots, mass spectrometry-based proteomics, NGS, ELISA/immunoassays.
  • Experience with bioinformatics using Python or R is highly advantageous.
