Job Description:


RESPONSIBILITIES:

Kforce has a client seeking a Stormwater Transportation Civil Engineer in Okeechobee, FL.

Responsibilities:


  • Performs periodic inspections of work performed by road maintenance contractors

  • Coordinates post-emergency assessments of damage to roadway facilities and works with federal agencies to receive emergency funding for repairs

  • Coordinates with external agencies on permit and road maintenance related issues

  • Prepares and processes maintenance contracts for advertisement, award and execution; Issues task work orders, reviews, approves and processes invoices

  • Assists with selected project duties on roadway design and Transportation Department construction projects

  • Prepares road maintenance budgets and schedules

  • Reviews and formulates appropriate mitigation improvement plans and agreements to resolve roadway maintenance or safety issues derived from resident's complaints

  • Updates Deferred Road Maintenance on a quarterly basis and submits report to Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA); This includes inspection of reservation roads and performs road condition ratings according to pre-determined checklist

  • Responsible for roads classifications and Right of Way requirements; Completes application for Set Aside Right of Way

  • Performs analysis of access ways and requirements for design and construction; Develops scope of services and estimates costs for the design and construction of access roads; Selects Consultant and contractor for design and construction

  • Responsible for project management, inspection and work acceptance of access roads







REQUIREMENTS:



  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering field, supplemented by ten (12) years of highly responsible technical experience in engineering; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

  • Must be a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Florida; Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License

  • Ability to understand and follow complex written and oral instructions

  • Ability to clearly communicate information both verbally and in writing

  • Ability to effectively supervise and train a staff comprised of entry and journey-level professionals engaged in carrying out departmental functions

  • Thorough knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, and methods as applicable to Transportation and Storm Water Drainage Systems Manuals

  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of public works engineering in Roadway and Storm Water Drainage System operations

  • Thorough knowledge of current codes and regulatory standards governing the state's engineering activities of public works construction and renovations

  • Knowledge of advanced-level mathematical computations, including geometry, trigonometry, and calculus

  • Skill in design and development of improvement and project plans, related work specifications, and related design formats that render proposed project concepts

  • Skill in researching, compiling, and summarizing statistical data and related materials

  • Ability to access, operate, and maintain various software applications

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with departmental personnel, management, contractors, consultants, and the general public






The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.



We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
