TITLE: Coordinator of Corporate & Foundation Relations DEPARTMENT: Office of Institutional Advancement REPORTS TO: Vice President of Institutional Advancement and External Relations CLASSIFICATION: Staff-12 months EFFECTIVE DATE: August 1, 2024 STANDARD WORK HOURS: 37.5 hours per week LOCATION: On-Site Main Campus | Frankfort, KY EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-Time EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: Exempt JOB SUMMARY: Kentucky State University is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic individual to fill the position of Coordinator of Corporate & Foundation Relations in the Office of Institutional Advancement. The Coordinator will be responsible for managing an active and diverse portfolio comprising of 75-90 top current and potential corporate & foundation gift donors. The Coordinator will travel within the Commonwealth and beyond establishing and enhancing relationships to benefit Kentucky State University. This position requires a proactive, goal-oriented individual with excellent interpersonal skills and a strong background in fundraising, relationship management, and strategic initiatives. The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing the university's mission by securing financial support from corporate and foundation partners, fostering meaningful relationships, and implementing strategic initiatives that align with the university's goals. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Donor Portfolio Management:
Cultivate, steward, and solicit gifts from an active portfolio of 75-90 corporate and foundation donors.
Conduct thorough research to identify prospective corporate and foundation donors and create tailored cultivation and solicitation strategies.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date portfolio donor records, including contact information, interactions, and giving history for corporate and foundation donors.
Relationship Building:
Establish and maintain strong relationships with corporate and foundation partners, understanding their interests and aligning university initiatives with their philanthropic goals.
Serve as the primary point of contact for corporate and foundation donors, addressing inquiries, providing updates, and ensuring timely and meaningful communication.
Strategic Initiatives:
Collaborate with university corporate and foundation stakeholders to identify strategic initiatives and funding opportunities that align with the university's priorities.
Develop and implement strategies to engage corporate and foundation partners in funding strategic initiatives, programs, and projects.
Work closely with internal departments to create compelling proposals and reports for donors, showcasing the impact of corporate and foundation contributions.
Event Coordination:
Assist in planning and executing events, meetings, and presentations related to corporate and foundation relations, fostering networking opportunities and donor engagement.
Represent the university at external corporate and foundation events and conferences to enhance the university's visibility and partnership opportunities.
Reporting and Analysis:
Prepare regular reports on corporate and foundation donor activities, gifts received, and progress toward fundraising goals.
Analyze data to identify trends, assess the effectiveness of fundraising strategies, and make data-driven recommendations for future initiatives for corporate and foundation donors.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Experience with the management of a donor database. Raiser’s Edge experience preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new software programs quickly.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage and inspire donors and colleagues.
Knowledge of Corporate and Foundation giving.
A passion for accuracy and sharp attention to detail.
Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
Valid driver’s license.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
This position does not have supervisory responsibility.
OTHER DUTIES:
Collaborate with colleagues with the Office of Institutional Advancement on special projects and initiatives.
Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging opportunities in corporate and foundation relations.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief of Staff & VP of Institutional Advancement and External Relations
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in philanthropy, nonprofit management, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fundraising, corporate relations, or related field.
Proficiency in using fundraising databases and software.
Knowledge and understanding of Kentucky State University's history, mission, and values is an asset.
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, as required by event schedules.
Licensing and Certifications: NA WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work could involve some exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
Requires some standing or walking.
No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
Some travel required.
