BGIS is currently seeking a Permitting Specialist to join the team in Hudson, FL.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Permitting Activities
Prepare applications and obtain applicable permits from state and local agencies and utility companies for customer work to be completed within 7 days of scheduled activity.
Review inspection log, update sheet with inspection results, and completed installs that need to be called for inspections. Alert appropriate business leaders of any failed inspections.
Contact completed installs to schedule inspections and follow up with unresponsive customers through additional communication and certified letters if required.
Represent the company before federal, state, and local regulatory agencies, boards, planning commissions, and councils to obtain approval for projects.
Check the status of permit applications that are pending or on hold and update records.
Organize NOCs by county and plan trips to county buildings accordingly.
Provide timely system updates and communicate effectively on potential permitting and zoning solutions.
Track progress by confirming jobs on the install calendar are also transferred to the install year-to-date spreadsheet.
Maintain a high level of technical knowledge and understanding of applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, ordinances, and regulations.
Manage third-party vendors as required.
Contribute to the completion of other key initiatives as assigned.
Business Functions and Project Support
Prioritize organizational needs regarding meetings, deadlines, and timeframes.
Assist with project prequalification requirements.
Collaborate and coordinate with internal functional groups to forecast accurately, resolve issues, facilitate progress, and achieve milestone targets.
Communicate with all subcontractors, vendors, and services to ensure updated project documentation.
Track and monitor values for subcontractors, vendors, and services.
Contact required parties to place orders or retrieve required information for project progress and requirements.
Provide monitoring of LOIs and update contract statuses.
Organize confidential information, project files, and records in a trackable file system and update/maintain ongoing updates with physical copies at the field office and digital filing.
Set up projects, job-specific accounting functions to include processing field team member timecards.
Log invoices, create check requests, and track payment status.
Obtain monthly AIAs and lien waivers from subcontractors for monthly requisitions.
Follow up on all documentation for RFIs and back charges.
Maintain all project drawings and documentation including insurance requirements.
Provide support to create, track, and distribute RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and as-builts.
Print project drawings as requested.
Assist with daily construction and project management processes and handle project closeout activities.
Collaborate and coordinate with internal functional groups to forecast accurately, resolve issues, facilitate progress, and achieve milestone targets.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 2 years proven experience in permitting, municipal planning, and/or land use capacity.
Ability to demonstrate poise, tact, and diplomacy when working with public officials.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a professional appearance.
In-depth understanding of rules and regulations around permitting and general knowledge of commercial building systems and/or construction.
Teamwork approach to completing complex tasks.
Problem-solving agility to seek root causes.
Excellent organization, planning, time management, and documentation skills with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
Strong research skills, ability to review/read information, and demonstrate attention to detail.
Creative, self-starter with critical thinking skills and the ability to work both independently and contribute to the team.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members, various internal department contacts, external resources, and clients.
High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential information.
Proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite.
