Job Summary:
As an Advanced Data Engineer at BPMI, you will drive the adoption of usable data to support data analytics and data science into BPMI's standard project execution methods and procedures to support initiatives and solve problems. You will review, analyze, and evaluate the scope of business problems presented and identify and execute viable technical solutions. You will be responsible for the development of data structures for existing and future data for use with both technical and business data sets.
Essential Duties:
Collaborate with a team of other data engineers, data scientists, and business subject matter experts to process data and integrate data sources.
Work closely with data owners to define, manage and deliver innovative solutions.
Develop and secure data structures (data lakes, pipelines, dataflows, tables) for existing and future data for use with both technical and business data sets.
Active contributor to code/tool development in projects and services.
Lead the implementation of data pipelines, dataflows, ETL and ELT processes, and data integration using Azure tools.
Evaluate and recommend appropriate Azure services and their configuration to optimize data architecture, performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
Collaborate with infrastructure owners to design and implement robust and scalable Azure data architectures, including networking, security, and availability considerations.
Troubleshoot difficult data issues and perform root cause analysis to proactively resolve issues.
Help grow a culture focused on data digitization.
Stay current on data engineering trends and techniques.
Create documentation for learning and knowledge transfer.

Minimum Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Business Intelligence, Engineering or equivalent degree from an accredited college or university.
A minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience. An advanced degree may be considered in lieu of one year of experience.
Requires a security clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance is required.
Preferred Job Requirements:
Proven understanding of Data Warehousing, Data Architecture, and ELT/ETL concepts.
Strong proficiency in Azure Synapse Analytics or Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure SQL DB, Azure Purview, Dataverse and Power Platform.
Microsoft DP-203 and/or AZ-305 certifications are a plus.
Experience with Toad, SQL Management Studio, or other Data Modeling Software.
