The R&D Cybersecurity group is seeking a seasoned 'staff engineer' to operate as a subject matter expert in the realm of software development efficiency and cybersecurity. This is a technical leadership role, with an opportunity and expectation for broadly impactful outcomes.
Primary Responsibilities
Defining and improving state-of-the-art software development and testing practices which are applicable across classes of SEL products and conform to relevant security-related standards (such as IEC62443-4-1 and the EU Cyber Resilience Act).
Contributing to SEL's third-party component strategy usage and improving the efficiency of our reuse and component management practices.
Acting as the component owner for key SEL third-party dependencies and building supplier relationships, including open source.
Contributing to the continual improvement of SEL's SBOM and Vulnerability management program.
Qualifications
Deep understanding of software engineering as a discipline. A BS/MS in Computer Science may help here but is not required.
6+ years of hands-on software development experience, working with applications in at least one of the following languages:
C/C++ Embedded
Go
Javascript
C#
2+ years working with formal responsibilities in one or more of the following areas of the software development lifecycle:
Continuous Integration
Integrated Test Automation
Security Testing and Vulnerability Assessment
System Design and Architecture
Documentation and Technical Steering
Nice-to-haves
Experience contributing to and participating in open-source projects.
Experience with SDLC oversight
Experience with improving processes and testing of mature code bases.

Pay Range Data:
$110,000 - $180,000
Our salary ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location. We base our starting pay offer and title on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
