Overview i3 is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to support the Naval Research Laboratory, Tactical Electronic Warfare Division. The TEWD's mission is to protect the warfighter from emerging threats by advancing electronic warfare (EW) through RDT&E of technologies. Responsibilities
Manage a VMware vSphere 7.X infrastructure in order to support maintained operation and compliance with security hardening / patching schedule.
Maintain documentation for the configuration of the network in accordance with input from the ISSM / ISSO and approved SOPs.
Maintain Horizon 8 Connection servers for users to access various dedicated and instant clone virtual machines that are a mix of Unix based and Windows based systems.
Plan and document planned migrations of various hardware and software components to maintain the compliance of the system (i.e. Server 2019 to 2022, or vCenter 7.X to 8.X)
Maintain both Windows and Unix systems in both virtual and physical capacities in order to maintain compliance with patching and software needs of users.
Manage both virtual and physical switches for compliance and operability of network core functions to operate site networking for clients.
Maintain hardware and software lists to maintain documentation to keep track of known devices and software in use on the system.
On occasion; perform after hours upgrades of core networking features to maintain compliance of system security and minimize network downtime.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and 6+ years of technical experience
Strong knowledge of Windows, Unix, and VMware software products and OSes
Knowledge of various SIEM applications and how to manage and configure them (i.e. Event Sentry, Splunk, etc.)
Great troubleshooting skills and verbal communication to discuss and plan correcting system issues and implementing configurations
Knowledge of automation tools for compliance checking and management of hardening / vulnerability patching (i.e. SCAP Compliance Checker, EvaluateSTIG, and Tenable SC)
Knowledge of configuring and managing endpoint protection solutions for hardening endpoints against unwarranted physical connection
Certifications: Minimum of DoD 8570 IAT Level II (ex. CompTIA Security + CE)
US Citizenship required
Clearance Requirements:
Security Clearance Level: TS with SCI
Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of cryptographic devices for network security
Operational knowledge of networking principles and Cisco related configurations for functional medium-sized network communications
VMware Certified Professional (multitude of applicable certs)
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or similar
