Solar Manufacturing is currently looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team. The Candidate should be a degreed Mechanical Engineer with working experience of mechanical design and manufacturing knowledge. The ideal candidate will be a results driven, strategic thinking and hands-on-leader, who can successfully lead operations of the Mechanical and Hot Zone Engineering departments. They will be responsible for driving operational excellence and ensuring that the departments meet their business objectives.

Are you a match?
Graduated from an undergraduate engineering curriculum which is accredited by ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) or has eight years of progressive experience in engineering work and knowledge, skill and education approximating that attained through graduation from an approved engineering curriculum. Has previous experience with thermal processing equipment design or a demonstrable understanding of heat transfer processes (radiation, conduction and convection). Has a familiarity with incompressible and compressible fluid flow calculations. Minimum of 8 years of experience in all aspects of mechanical engineering for a manufacturing concern. Proficient in the use of Windows based PCs. Proficient in the use of a 3D CAD system (Autodesk Inventor preferred) and a working knowledge of the use of Autodesk AutoCAD. Proficient in the use of Excel for engineering related work. Experience with a PDM (Product Data Management) package (Autodesk Vault preferred) A detailed knowledge of the use, implementation, and management of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software. (Acumatica preferred) Strong supervisory and leadership skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to maintain good working relationships with Customers, plus internal Sales, Management and Manufacturing personnel.

What your day would be like:
Provide engineering design and calculation support for equipment, fabrications, and systems in the manufacture of vacuum furnaces including hot zones, chambers, gas quench systems, vacuum pumping systems, water cooling systems, pneumatic systems, partial pressure systems and other sub-assemblies Create CAD drawings and bills of materials and specify appropriate materials to meet quality and production objectives. Develop, recommend, and implement engineering operating procedures to ensure smooth operation of the engineering function within the company. Provide technical support as needed for customers, sales, field service and manufacturing. Provide oversight of engineering software systems with a focus on improving business processes (e.g. PDM, ERP, CAD). Check designs, drawings, and Bills of Material for accurate content. Assist in the development of vacuum furnace operations and maintenance manuals. Assist the Purchasing department with the development of accurate information for the purchase of materials and services, meet with vendors, research materials, and qualify suppliers. Direct oversight and supervision of all mechanical and hot zone engineers/designers to ensure work assignments meet production schedules. Develop, recommend, and implement engineering operating procedures to ensure smooth operation of the engineering function within the company. Apply a working knowledge of engineering codes and standards that affect component specification, performance, operation, and safety of vacuum furnaces such as ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code Section VIII Div 1, NFPA 86, OSHA and ANSI/ASME/AMS standards. The Senior Mechanical Engineer would report to the President of the Company.
