Your Role
Sr. Directors Engineering see their team as their product. While they are technically credible and know the details of what engineers work on, key component of their time is spent safeguarding their team's health, hiring a world-class team, and putting them in the best position to succeed. They own the delivery of product commitments and are always looking to improve productivity. They must also coordinate across departments to accomplish collaborative goals. Directors will often be given ambiguous ill-defined problems with the implicit goal of gaining clarity and driving execution/direction. Directors are responsible for mentoring and managing other leaders in the organization and generally have Senior Engineering Managers or Engineering Managers reporting to them.
As a Sr. Director Engineering, you will lead a globally distributed engineering team to deliver innovative ecommerce experience for a global website to improve business outcomes with improved CSAT scores and website performance.
Directs and controls the activities of multiple units and/or a large unit of software engineers accountable for providing desired functionality to assigned digital content, products and services.
Recommends or sets software engineering performance and service standards, develops and oversees the implementation of operating plans to achieve those standards.
Have successful peer partnerships with other department leaders in Engineering, and cross-functionally (Product Management, sales, marketing, alliances, etc)
Standardize the development process where needed, allow local differences where advantageous.
Proven record in getting high profile and complicated programs stood up and delivered in a fast-paced environment.
This leader will need to get us from 0 to 1 then 1 to 1000+ in an agile way that balances both short- and long-term goals in mind.
This role is self-aware of its leadership shadow and must be aware of how other parts of the organization are referenced in communications. Instills a sense of collaboration into the teams so that they learn to collaborate effectively with other parts of the organization.
Who You Are
Minimum Qualifications:
Manage, mentor and build a high caliber global full stack engineering team.
Your focus is going to be on APIs and back end microservices which are integral part of the core eCommerce.
Collaborate with key executives and technology stakeholders to create and execute technology roadmap, balancing competing interests and needs across the organization to arrive at a clear vision.
Roll up their sleeves as needed to show the team with engineering/architecture patterns and working towards delivering engineering excellence.
Bachelors in engineering or related degree.

Experience leading a large Software Engineering Team
