Position Overview

Multi-craft role that installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs manufacturing equipment and associated control systems. This equipment consists of motors, pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, conveyor systems, and associated control systems (e.g. electronic sensors, PLCs, HMIs). Evaluates and support plant-wide electrical, control and automation systems. This position will also design and implement improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs and improve reliability.

Function Related Activities/Key Responsibilities


  • Develop, modify and program a wide variety of PLC's and panel views (design & implementation of improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs and improve reliability).
  • Interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, blueprints and layouts.
  • Troubleshoot electrical wiring, relay logic, control and safety circuits.
  • Troubleshoot PLC's, touchscreens, displays, contactors and motors.
  • Train mechanics on equipment, procedures and troubleshooting practices.
  • Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments.
  • Repair or replace defective parts. Install special functional and structural parts in devices. Lubricate and clean parts.
  • Start devices to test their performance.
  • Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility's equipment to maximize machine reliability.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
  • Perform technician skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
  • Complete acceptance testing, start-up and commissioning.
  • Identify projects, including but not limited to upgrades or enhancements to control or automation systems.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining project documentation - manuals, Theory of Operations, drawing.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental procedure and all national, state and local safety regulations and recommendations.
  • Required to communicate (both written and oral form) and work with various operational, environmental, maintenance and engineering levels in a team environment, as well as accomplish individual goals.
  • Lead and participates continuous improvement efforts to raise manufacturing performance in order to meet and exceed critical Plant Safety, Quality, Service, and Cost KPI's.
  • May be asked to perform additional duties as necessary


Position Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field preferred.
  • 5 years of related experience required

    • Experience with Community Coffee, even if unrelated, may fulfill this requirement at the discretion of the hiring manager with approval from Human Resources.


    • Full knowledge of Allen Bradley controllers and programming software
    • Understands electrical, mechanical, fluid power and control systems
    • Experienced with advanced PLC, and/or robotics
    • Knowledge of devicenet, Ethernet, DH+, Modbus and RS232
    • Knowledge of RSLogix, ControlLogix, CompacLogix and MicroLogix
    • Factory view software
    • Strong electrical background, knowledge of servos and VFD's
    • Experience in installing wiring and conduit

  • Plant environment: while performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold, extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment frequently exceeds 85dB.
