This position is for a highly motivated and energetic Research Lab Technician in a lab within the Division of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics. The lab is devoted to the cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in the development of necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC), which affects premature infants. This position assists with the technical aspects of studies including performing experiments, handling mice, utilizing human samples, as well as documentation and preparation of materials for study and analysis.
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Clear verbal and written skills to communicate with laboratory staff and investigators. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain complete and organized records/reports. Working knowledge of computer software and general lab equipment.
Preference will be given to candidates who have experience working in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological, chemical and radioactive hazards. Demonstrated ability to initiate actions and solve problems using sound judgment is preferred. Ideal candidate will be physically able to wear protective equipment and provide standard care and experimental care to research animals.
