The School of Education is an academic unit reporting to the Provost. The School is a major center of research, teaching, and public service within the State of North Carolina, the nation, and the world. The School offers a full range of undergraduate and graduate programs. The mission of the School of Education is to conduct research, and generate basic and applied knowledge about human development, educational technology and entrepreneurship, teaching and learning, school counseling, school psychology, administration, as well as educational policy and leadership; prepare leaders in the profession of education by conducting outstanding research, teaching, and service; and assist in the development of strong and effective public schools in North Carolina. In order to fulfill its mission, the School is organized into three academic divisions: (1) Culture, Curriculum, & Teacher Education (CCATE), (2) Learning, Development & Psychological Sciences (LDPS), and (3) Educational Policy, Organization, & Leadership (EPOL).
The School of Education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications for a position in Educational Innovation, Technology, and Entrepreneurship starting July 1, 2025. This full-time 12-month position will be appointed for a three-year term, with the potential to renew for additional terms.
The candidate will teach nine courses per calendar year over the fall, spring and summer semesters including courses where they mentor students as they complete their final projects. The candidate may teach courses in face-to-face, online, and/or blended formats and courses will be offered through the Master of Arts in Educational Innovation, Technology, and Entrepreneurship (MEITE) program and/or other relevant programs in the School of Education.
The candidate will also:
- Develop graduates courses for MEITE and related programs based on need and current trends in educational innovation and technology.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the MEITE program.
- Actively recruit students in both digital and face-to-face contexts.
- Develop relationships in the Research Triangle that have symbiotic benefits for the MEITE program and the partnering organizations.
- Support strategic initiatives across the School and campus.
- Provide leadership and service at the local, state, and national levels.
Candidates must have an earned doctorate in education, instructional technology, business, or a closely related field.
Candidates at the Clinical Assistant Professor level must have an earned doctorate at the time of hire. Candidates at the Clinical Associate and Full levels must have an established record of teaching, leadership, scholarship of teaching, and service to meet the University's requirements for appointment at the respective rank. Candidates will have strong potential, or an established record, of outstanding university teaching and advising students.
Candidates will receive preference if they have industry-based experience as an entrepreneur, innovator, and/or marketer in an educational context (e.g., publishing, product development, user testing, etc.), three or more years of teaching experience in an institution of higher education, and/or are able able to develop courses based on industry trends. Additional preferred qualifications include experience with student recruitment, social media engagement, and industry-based partnerships.
