The Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Medicine is recruiting a Research Assistant Professor on the fixed-term track. The successful candidate will participate in research and training activities in the Hanks laboratory. The Research Assistant Professor position will be responsible for coordinating all research efforts over several key projects in the Hanks Lab, including studies focused on the role of the NLRP3 inflammasome in tumor-mediated immune evasion and immunotherapy resistance and the role of tumor-dependent myeloid cell innate training in immunotherapy-associated toxicities. In addition to executing their own experiments, this individual will direct and manage the work of two other post-doctoral associates, two laboratory technicians, and rotating and permanent graduate students. This position will attend group lab meetings weekly while also meeting with the lab PI one-on-one every other week. The individual in this position will be expected to keep up with the literature related to their ongoing projects while also assisting with both manuscript and grant preparation.
PhD in Immunology or related field.
o Expertise and extensive experience in the field of innate immunology ( post-PhD)
o Extensive experience in executing various murine tumor studies including the ability to perform live tumor resection surgeries
o Extensive experience in the execution of multi-parameter flow cytometry, ELISA, qrt-PCR, CRISPR/Cas9, Western blot, Co-IP, bulk RNAseq as well as the analysis of the resulting data
o Experience in tandem MS/MS and scRNAseq preferred
