The Research Associate will organize and participate in the functioning of a robust laboratory environment to increase the scientific understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of infectious diseases, specifically enterovirus infection using human monoclonal antibodies. This employee will investigate through laboratory experimentation, plan projects, perform general data analysis, prepare and present reports, contribute to safety control protocols within the laboratory, and supervise technicians, students, and resident trainees in lab investigation. The incumbent will be expected to conduct difficult/complex lab testing, develop methods and procedures to be used in research protocols and experiments, analyze and present data, and assist the Principal Investigator with grant proposals, reports, and research publications. Furthermore, the Research Associate will provide mentorship to those in the lab as well as act as the point person to coordinating sites for communication regarding all scientific progress.
Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity, will accept a relevant Bachelor's degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution. May require terminal degree and licensure.
Candidates must have a PhD in Virology or a virology-related field.
The candidate must have prior experience especially with virology (especially picornaviruses), tissue culture with primary human cells, and/or the isolation of human monoclonal antibodies via rapid molecular techniques.
