Position Summary:

The Department of Cell Biology & Physiology at UNC-CH is seeking highly qualified candidates for up to two tenure-track faculty positions in the broad area of gastrointestinal biology and disease. Positions are open-rank and qualified candidates with PhD, MD, MD/PhD or DVM degrees with significant postdoctoral or early faculty experience are eligible to apply. The successful candidate must have an exceptional record of publications in leading peer-reviewed journals, a well-defined research vision, and will be expected to establish and maintain an innovative externally funded research program. We will consider any qualified candidates working with mammalian models, humans, or human IPSCs. Diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease, colitis, liver failure and regeneration, and celiac disease offer the opportunity for translational work that is immediately applicable to human care. Candidates with expertise in basic cellular studies exploring the regulation of cell fate decisions, regenerative capacity, mucosal immunology, and epithelial barrier biology are encouraged to apply. Candidates who employ model organism systems and -omics approaches to integrate the effects of dysregulated gastrointestinal function on other physiological systems or conditions, such as cystic fibrosis, heart disease, atherosclerosis, brain-gut axis or immune system dysfunction will be preferred.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Applicants should have a PhD, MD, MD/PhD, DVM, or similar degree. Candidates must have a history of successful research in the discipline of gastrointestinal biology and demonstrate a high capacity to receive external, independent funding.


Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:
