Position Summary:

The Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering at UNC-Chapel Hill and NC State University (BME) with the Brain-Spine-Machine Interfaces Lab led by Dr. Amol Yadav seeks a Lab Manger to oversee operations in a large biomedical laboratory as well as lead and contribute to ongoing research studies. This will also include providing technical assistance in neurophysiology and neuromodulation experiments on animals and humans, project planning, experimental design, database management, safety oversight, modifying procedures as needed, data collection and analysis, laboratory management, project management, Responsibilities will also include the training and supervision of students and others in performing specific techniques/experiments.


The laboratory functions at the interface of Neuroscience and Engineering. The lab's goal is to develop neuroprosthetic technologies to treat neurological disorders and to conduct animal and human clinical research in collaboration with surgeons, clinicians, neuroscientists, and other biomedical engineers. Prospective candidates will develop expertise in animal handling, animal behavioral experimentation, spinal cord stimulation, and computational modeling. Ideal candidates would be interested in neural engineering research


Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent instructional or educational activities related to laboratory management or practice, will accept a relevant Bachelor's degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution.


Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

General knowledge of basic lab function, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Candidate should be motivated and a organized self-starter.


Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

The ideal candidate would have programming, mathematics, biology, experience handling animals, ability to multitask, record keeping, and writing skills.
