Job Summary

The Adaptive Learning Tutor at the College of Eastern Idaho is dedicated to providing tailored tutoring and academic assistance to students with diverse learning needs. This role involves collaborating with various departments to develop and implement personalized learning strategies that support each student's unique educational journey.

Typical Job Functions



  • Individualized Tutoring: Offer one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions tailored to students who require alternative learning methods, particularly those with diverse learning needs such as vision impairments or difficulties with reading and writing.


  • Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with the Student Accessibility Services Dept., Tutoring Center, College and Career Readiness Center, and Testing Center to coordinate and implement accommodations, outlined by the Student Accessibility Services, that enhance student success.


  • Assessment and Monitoring: Continuously assess students' progress, adjust tutoring strategies as needed, and communicate outcomes to relevant departments to ensure consistent support and academic growth.


  • Faculty and Staff Coordination: Work with department heads, especially in the Student Accessibility Services Dept., to collaborate with faculty and staff. Share insights and best practices for supporting students with diverse learning needs and ensuring effective integration of accommodations.


  • Student Empowerment: Support and empower students in developing self-advocacy skills and strategies to manage their learning needs effectively and independently.


  • Training and Professional Development: Attend trainings for tutoring certification and be willing to learn tutoring best practices to effectively support students with diverse learning needs.


  • Reports directly to: Tutoring Center Coordinator and Senior Coordinator for Student Accessibility Services .

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Minimum Qualifications



  • Education Experience: Experience working with special populations, such as students with disabilities or English Language Learners.


  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as social work, special education, and behavioral intervention.


  • Endorsement: Endorsement from an educator who can attest to the candidate's ability to work effectively with students with diverse learning needs.

  • Incumbent must reside in Idaho (Currently CEI doesn't sponsor H-1B Visas).

  • Bilingual: Spanish

    Physical Demands and Work Environment: Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions.


    On-site work is essential and regular predictable attendance is required. Employees may be required to work at occasional events and handle tasks outside of regular working hours.


    Background Investigations: Employment at College of Eastern Idaho will be contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background investigation and may require a credit and/or motor vehicle background investigation depending on the position. Please refer to Policy 225: Background Checks.
