Chemical Supplier client is seeking a Corporate Environmental Manager for a Direct Hire role in Norwalk, CT!




Hybrid (4 onsite, 1 WFH)




$120K-$145K




CORPORATE ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGER



Position Objectives and Responsibilities


The Corporate Environmental Manager will report directly to the Director, Health Safety and Environmental Risk. The Manager will develop, implement and maintain an effective environmental control program, corporate-wide. This includes, but is not limited to, compliance with local, state, and federal applicable air, water, and waste regulations. The Manager will maintain a positive public image, promote proactive versus reactive approach to environmental aspects of existing and planned future operations, and will provide direct assistance to all sites for environmental issues. The Manager will also be the Chair of HazMat Transportation Committee, Corporate Security Officer for Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards programs and is the ACC Sustainability Coordinator for Client.


Typical Duties and Functions


  • Familiarization with site operations, existing environmental programs, systems and key personnel.

  • Establish and maintain systems to determine the adequacy of environmental programs and systems (train, audit, aid in resource planning)

  • Maintain a prioritized plan to address environmental, security, and sustainability issues.

  • Manage waste disposals from third-party warehouses.

  • Represent in trade associations for environmental, hazardous materials transportation, security, and sustainability issues.

  • Assist in engineering design to ensure that environmental issues are addressed.

  • Represent at Superfund and Superfund-like sites by participation in Technical Committees.

  • Coordinate environmental-related litigation and citations with attorneys, agencies, consultants and site personnel.

  • Review safety data sheets environmental and transportation information.

Requirements:


Bachelor of Science Degree and 5-16 years of experience in Environmental role.


Job Specific Training


  • Hazardous Materials Transportation Training (at least every two years for IATA and every three years for DOT and IMDG)

  • Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) waste handling - either attend training or lead training.
