Position: Principal Data Scientist
Job Location: 5404 Jandy Place, Los Angeles, CA 90066
Duties: Inform the development of enterprise customer segmentation and audience targeting strategies. Integrate marketing performance insights into a broader understanding of the factors affecting customer engagement and value. Drive the development, deployment, and adoption of advanced media attribution models to measure and help optimize Walmart's marketing investment across a wide range of short and long term business objectives. Develop, socialize, and scale transformative solutions to solve key marketing measurement challenges. Apply marketing measurement techniques, including media mix models, multi-touch attribution, a/b testing, and causal inference models, to quantify the impact of marketing tactics and other business drivers on short and long-term business and financial outcomes. Partner with the Data Enablement and Tech teams to define requirements for analytics data pipelines, data management tools, and data visualization/reporting products. Support Walmart's Category Marketing team by delivering empirically based insights into marketing's contribution to product category performance and growth goals. Build and maintain working relationships across departments or teams. Communicate with senior stakeholders to balance stakeholder and analytics perspectives. Provide thought leadership in identifying opportunities to leverage advanced analytics to drive incremental performance and business value. Partner with internal Marketing, Finance, Tech, and Planning teams to develop forecasts for marketing's incremental contribution to sales and digital traffic. Develop tools and drive training that enable Marketers partners to adopt an analytical mindset for their daily business decisions. Communicate technical material clearly to a range of audiences and build narratives that provides insight into the factors impacting business performance.
Minimum education and experience required: Master's degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Operations Research, or related field and 3 years of experience in an analytics related field; OR Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Operations Research, or related field and 5 years of experience in an analytics related field.
Skills required: Experience with advanced mathematical, statistical and data mining techniques, data science, machine learning, and optimization models. Experience with Python, Spark, and SQL. Experience using open-source learning frameworks including Scikit Learn, TensorFlow, and Torch. Experience developing and deploying advanced and scalable marketing measurement and optimization solutions. Experience with unsupervised models including K-means clustering, Probabilistic Clustering, and Principal Component Analysis. Experience with supervised models including GLM, classification models, ensemble techniques, regularization techniques, Bayesian models, and supervised Neural Networks. Experience using cloud based big data technologies and modern data visualization tools. Experience with Causal inference measurement methodologies including a/b and multivariate testing, customer level synthetic control groups, and Google Causal Inference. Experience with Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel. Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills.
Salary Range: $151,694/year to $264,000/year. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include: Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location) and Stock equity incentives.
